Perhaps you should work along the lines of one piece of 'junk' for every pair of 'others' shoes.

If you have one watch you know what the time is. But if you have two you don't know which one is right.

The more advice you get the more confusing it becomes.

Good luck Henry, but don't blame me if it goes bad!

My Creative zen touch 20GB gave up the ghost yesterday
Decided to replace with a 5th Gen iPod 30GB. 10GB more music to carry around . Wish I could afford the 160GB model though. That would hold over 1/3 of my collection

noticed that the price differences specially for anything
apple-connected can be horrific - where are you buying it, UK?

and what gave up on the ZEN that makes it unfixable?

Cowan D2 - 08-24-2008, 06:39 AM

Love the 4g Cowan with a 8g HCSD card. Never any problems sounds great and gets 52hrs on one charge.

Sorry to hear that Damo.

My Vision M 30Gb has been rock solid since the day I bought it - although space is beginning to get a bit short!

As Henry says, what has broken on it?

Decided to get one on the cheap and went with factory refurbished

Was Ok for a while and then headphone socket came a bit loose which resulted in intermittent sound loss in one ear I was able to sort this out for a bit by opening it up and putting a bit of foam padding between the headphone jack and the casing to hold it in place (the internal electronics and pcb are done in such a way that re-soldering is not an option) After a while, same old problem So Opened it up again to do the same thing, and found that in doing this I somehow broke the power button (not the silver tab, but the actual switch on the pcb It still powers up and plays when the battery is reconnected, but if it goes into standby it has to be opened and battery reconnected.

Besides, I wanted more capacity anyway and the iPod is smaller and lighter, thus better for the gym. However regarding battery life, the Zen touch beats the iPod hands down with its 24hrs playtime.

I have an 8 GB Meizu M6 mini player which I absolutely love (aside from a few very minor bugs).
Surprised that nobody else here seems to use one, since it is said to have one of the best sound performances of all players.
