Decided to get one on the cheap and went with factory refurbished
Was Ok for a while and then headphone socket came a bit loose which resulted in intermittent sound loss in one ear

I was able to sort this out for a bit by opening it up and putting a bit of foam padding between the headphone jack and the casing to hold it in place (the internal electronics and pcb are done in such a way that re-soldering is not an option) After a while, same old problem

So Opened it up again to do the same thing, and found that in doing this I somehow broke the power button (not the silver tab, but the actual switch on the pcb

It still powers up and plays when the battery is reconnected, but if it goes into standby it has to be opened and battery reconnected.
Besides, I wanted more capacity anyway and the iPod is smaller and lighter, thus better for the gym. However regarding battery life, the Zen touch beats the iPod hands down with its 24hrs playtime.
