I am using what is now quiet an old player, an Archos AV380. I binned the original crap headphones, and it sounds pretty good. I just wish it would stop eating batteries as they are getting quiet hard to get hold of. The reason for battery eating is the recharge circuit is rubbish and doesnt appear to stop charging even when the battery is full. I cant use an external charger as the battery is proprietry.

I have a IPOD - 04-30-2007, 06:48 AM

Yeah I crossed over.I used to be a diehard WMA codec kinda guy. With a samsung 60 gig and Wma data cd's. Then Alpine came out with the IPOD full speed auto head unit. All the other manufactuers have a cable and box of some sort. But the Alpine unit just uses a cable from the head unit straight to your IPOD And access all your music through the head unit.I also found a sweet car mount cradle (dock) mounted out of sight in the center console that the cable mount's into so I just slip my Ipod in and out.And it charges it as well.So now Im a AAC 320kbps kinda guy.NO ITUNES just AAC format files ripped from all my cd's and from you know where. http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpa...p_leftorright= http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=CDA-9857 I also like to ride my bicycle (beach curiser) on the board walk and have some crazy mounts for that. IPOD,Portable speakers, phone & drink holder all on the handle bars. http://www.custommounts.com/Default.asp Im just a gaget GEEK.

Creative MuVo V100. (2 gb.) I used to have a 1gb Sony, but I can't stand their sonicstage software. It pretty much DRMs your music as you load it on so you can't put it back on your computer, although I think theres a workaround these days called GYM(my Sister still has a sony, so I use it for her when she needs to).

I would like to get a hard drive based player, then I could have quite a few albums in the full flac, but I would be so paranoid of dropping it and ruining the drive that I wouldn't take it anywhere with me. These small flash drives take alot more abuse.

The zune is pretty durable, it's got rubber plastic casing so dropping it just gives it a bump. And its software does allow you to transfer DRM-free tracks from it to any computer. Doesn't take flacs though, but I'd really recommend it for durability and sound.

1 - Ipod 3rd generation 15gb
1 - Ipod 3rd generation 20gb

I love both of them the 15gb is currently being used by my g/f However I gennerally use mine in my car which has a Alpine Radio which plugs directly into the Radio.

I think one of the things that I like best about the Alpine is that it has become the standard. It seems that everything in the MP3 player arena is catered to Ipod owners. If you can't fight them .....Join them!

Hmm yer, unfortunately. However i will stick with my slightly bulky iAudio. Although i am tempted to go for an ipod 80gb and the mod it with rockbox firmware so it can play OGG/FLAC files.

I've been rockin the iRiver H340 for several yrs. It's tough as nails, and sounds good, though the gui is weak sauce.

I'm waiting patiently for the iphone style ipod (no phone included) that I expect to be released in '07-08. The iphone form factor/gui makes my balls ache with lust

I've been craving that perfect combination of several devices for years now. I've gotten so close to buying an Archos many many times. Not sure why I hesitate since they look good and people say they work well.

hello and good evening,
i use the old stand by ipod. mine is the 2nd generation and i have put this thing through the ringer. i use it almost everyday and i must say it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. i use a pair of etymotics that are worth a lot more than my ipod. i also use this old software i found on the net about 4 years ago to boost the volume of the player. it is call eupod volume boost and must i say this makes such a difference. i work outside and could never really here my music until i found the volume booster. other than that im happy with my player. the new ones seem really nice but im not a fan of i tunes.
thanks,
chad

Hello!

My Portable Media Player of choice is the Archos 604 - using it every day while I commute back-and-forth to work.

Samuel.
