Unhappy can't play mp3's on Sony Vegas, or Sony Acid - 02-26-2008, 02:55 PM

I am absolutely a 100% satisfied mp3 Fiesta customer, but there is a problem.
Not one of the 100 plus mp3's i have downloaded will play in Sony Vegas (video editor), or Acid 7 (audio editor/mixing). i get an error message stating that the file is corrupt or that i need to make sure i have read access to the file folder, which i do.
it seems highly unlikely that every file would be corrupt, and i can see no difference in the file properties from the other mp3 files that i have downloaded elsewhere or ripped from cd. this is only a problem with the Fiesta files.
i have zero problems with burning to cd or mp3 player sync. which again would rule out corruption.
this really super sucks because i use mp3's for video score and slideshow background music. i use my audio software to create super dj style megamixes, but can't do either with the mp3 Fiesta files.
there has to be a way to fix this, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I edit/mix etc using Sony's sound forge - Sony have a vested interest in stopping people using mp3's that they haven't licensed...my thought was...Is it the software??

I haven't used this site to download mp3's but can tell you that there is no problem with the mp3's that I have downloaded from mp3skyline.com

Yeah, my first thought was the software. The weird thing is mp3's from other sites, such as E-Music, has given me no problems. Licensing could very well be the cause even still.
it sucks, though because i have downloaded so many tracks. i wonder if there is a way to get around it.
i will give mp3skyline a shot.
sound forge is an excellent program.

Taken out of context this part would probably upset Skyforger a little bit

it sucks though, because i have downloaded so many tracks. i will give mp3skyline a shot.
i edited the post, so no one gets upset.
sorry for the potential confusion.

Hi moses808

Maybe it's something odd about the ID3 tags causing this problem? You could try stripping the tags from a track and seeing if it will load.

MP3skyline archmage. Over 3 100 000 tunes - ain't it magic?
one, two - buckle my shoe, three, four - shut the door, five, six - pick up sticks, seven, eight - lay em straight

I had the same problems treaming to my PS3 ... was doing a search on the net on google and came across this post!!

Removing ID3 tags sorted the problem

Find ID3-Tagit on the net (It's Free)

On ID3-Tagit
Open the folder with the mp3's in it.
Select All (Ctrl-A)
Copy Ver 1&2 Tag Info (Ctrl-Shift-C)
Remove ver1 tag info (Ctrl-F11)
Remove Ver2 Tag Info (Ctrl-F12)
Save (Ctrl-S)
Paste Tag Info (Ctrl-Shift-V)
Save (Ctrl-S)

Should now play .... has worked for me!!
