Help please.....Why won't my ipod play downloads?! -
11-25-2007, 09:13 PM
Hello all, just registered. And my first post is a cry for help.....
Downloaded some great stuff from mp3fiesta, all tracks play fine on the laptop. Imported them into itunes, no probs and they all play fine in there. Transfer to my ipod and there they all are, but they will not play, no way no how. It just keeps skipping really quickly through each playlist then stopping. I've tried deleting then uploading the tracks again and even restored the ipod to factory settings blah blah.....Can't find any help in the apple forums either so I thought I would try you lovely people here (crawl crawl) Great site by the way, very helpful
Thanks in anticipation.......

Hi Cherrybaby,
Not sure if this is relevant to the problem you are having, but check out Shadmans post (Post #10) in the link below. Got to say I have never seen the problem which you are having and I have downloaded from alot of the different sites ,
Cheers,
Dave C

My suggestion was to restore iPod to factory settings... but looks like you've already tried that.
Seems very strange. Those tracks are in mp3 format, right?

Thanks for taking time to reply guys
All the tracks are mp3's, all play fine until I put them on the ipod, then.....nothing. It recognises the tracks but just skips them. It's very strange.....I'm getting close to using the 'drop kick the laptop out the bedroom window' solution.
But before I use that method, I'm going to take itunes off completely and use the pod as a disc drive, just drag and drop the tracks over and see what happens then.
Will report back!

Ahhh.... the ever so helpful "drop the laptop out of the bedroom window solution". You HAVE been lurking on this forum, haven't you. This solution has been suggested here more than a few times. By Dave C, I believe
Uninstalling and re-installing iTunes would have been my next suggestion, but wasn't sure if you'd go for that... Make sure to backup your itunes library before you do that, so your playcounts, etc. get preserverved. Of course, this is only if it's important to you.
By the way, does this happen to ALL the music you have in your iTunes, or just specific tracks? If this happens to all music you have, you might want to call Apple support...

I always threaten with a screwdriver before moving to the dropkick. This is technical stuff and has to be done in the right order or who knows what might happen ,

I guess the first step always works, hah? Nightfly and I stood outside your window in vain for hours - no sight of your laptop anywhere

It was your recommendation of 'breath in, breath out' which has stopped the final step a couple of times. My internet connection has been dropping sooooo much over the past week I have found myself almost hyperventilating with all of this breathing ,
