MP3 Fiesta now 5 cents per track??? - 05-14-2009, 09:18 PM

Sorry if this is old news, but I haven't looked at MPŁ Fiesta for a few months and rarely bought from them since they went up from 10 cents a track to 20 cents a track.

However, just browsed there tonight and all tracks seem to currently be 5 cents!

Is this a temporary promotion or a perminant change (very much for the better)?

Many thanks,
Afton

I was also on there today and noticed the exact same thing. I want to just go nutso and download until I fall asleep, but am skeptical that everything is ok or not.

I'm a bit frustrated. Before last Xmas (2008) aom3 announced on the forum that Fiesta was due to shut down (or something of the sort) and based on the information and the source that provided it, I emptied my account. I had never had problems with Fiesta and quite liked them but was basing my trust on someone who definitely should have been in the know to post something like that. I am aware there have been complaints of lack of customer service with Fiesta, but that isn't uncommon with some of the sites here (well Sparks for sure).

Since that time I have seen some awesome offers go by and there have been no complaints by those who have feasted on Fiesta. I now went on to check and they are indeed .05 a track; albums for 50 cents. Unfortunately, I topped up another recommended account before I left Canada that I haven't been that happy with (my decision).

My point is really that aom3 has been silent about anything further with Fiesta's services still available and perhaps should post something about why that caution was issued or post an apology if his source(s) was/were wrong. Had I not followed that advice, I would still be actively using Fiesta. The problem is, I can only afford so many accounts...

Based on what's been posted here regarding Fiesta's offerings and service and my own experience, I would recommend people use Fiesta if they are happy with what is being offered. It certainly isn't the worst site around and I think we got some very poor information.

Probably the credit crunch but how long will it last?
You can still get similar and even better deals from a a well trusted site like mp3sale, but everybody to their own.

Procol Harum's A Whiter Shade of Pale is the most played song in public places in the last 75 years, according to a chart compiled for BBC Radio 2. (April 2009)

Hi Chris

I went over to MP3Sale but haven't been over the moon about the bitrates. Not that Fiesta is always great but it is somewhat frustrating that a site that I never had trouble with was alleged to be folding. Even if it is the credit crunch, they've still been offering some great deals and no one has complained.

I accept the responsibility that I topped up my accounts in Canada quite heavily due to the better exchange rate on the CDN dollar to the Aussie dollar at the time. I find I'm having a hard time spending the money on Sales when looking for albums.

Hi Martin,

I find the opposite to what you say, in the last week or so I have downloaded EIGHT Camel albums and each one was 320 bitrate, including five that were "half price" between 0.40-0.50 euros per album.
I also like to download in ZIP files (as Millisong). Fiesta does not.
Like Nightfly, if I lost all my music (hard drive, etc) mp3sale allow you to download as many times as you like. Fiesta does not.
Pastor39 appears here regularly, Solution does not.

But, as I said, everyone to their own.

5cents - 06-10-2009, 01:51 PM

Its very frustrating that they do not communicate with their members or with this forum.

I had sprung for the one year membership and have definitely used it to its full value a few times though. I was nervous doing it because of everyone's concern it was a quick grab for cash before they closed down but i agreed with the logic that 50$ blown on alcohol, food, and a night out isn't that uncommon. So why not risk it?!

I'm very curious how long the 5 cent songs will last.

Hi Chris

I have been using Sales more and am finding some stuff with better bit rates and definitely some great prices. Still, I stand by my comments that a lot of bitrates are low. As for Fiesta, their bitrates are not always great but my point was that I never had problems with them and found them good to use. No, their customer support is not great, but I still don't agree with posting stuff for people to stay away from them when the sources don't seem to be reliable.

For those questioning their drop in prices, it's a competitive market and until something is posted on here that clearly shows they are a risk, I say feel free to use them if you're prepared to accept that customer support may be an issue. It's seven months since I emptied my account and went to Sales and I've yet to see one posting here about being ripped off by Fiesta. At 5 cents a track, albums at 50 cents, for those interested put the minimum on and go for it.

Pastor39 may be good at appearing on here but he certainly didn't reply to a courteous PM that I felt was better sent to him directly than posting on here. Guess I'm not in his good books.

Just want to add that I am at odds with my good friend Sir Nightfly over this issue but I respect his position and acknowledge and appreciate his number one objective is to look after the members here.

Hi Climer

Obviously you had no problems the first time and there have been no further postings on their demise. Don't be too worried about how long the 5 cent song thing will last -- just put on what you're prepared to lose if you feel it's a risk. As for lousy customer service, you should come live in Australia where that's pretty much the norm.

Thank you sir, I am glad that you are aware that I am only looking out for
our members when I see something I don't like about any site. But it is
always a individual decision at the end when choosing or not choosing a site.

Aom3 and I have been doing this for awhile and you learn who is who, and what is what, with the sites out there. That's one of the reasons we work on this site everyday. To help others with that information.

And of course we trust the Members word as the most reliable determination
of how things really are out there.
