Newbie with a kind of "reverse" problem regarding payments.... - 12-07-2007, 06:35 PM

Hi,

First post from me, and i searched the forums to see if anyone else had encountered my problem, and i don't think they have- but forgive me if I'm wrong!

I filled my mp3 fiesta account for the first time the other day- i found some long out of print cd's that I wanted to add to my collection. I used a "Secure Card" generated by Paypal- it's basically a "virtual Mastercard" that can only be used once, by only one merchant. After having my credit card numbers stolen last year (oddly enough, from a car rental place!), I'm VERY hesitant to use my "real" credit card on line.

So i made the payment, i received a notification of payment, and there was $19.90 in my mp3 fiesta account. However, over at Paypal, the status of the transaction is listed as "pending"- which means that the merchant hasn't picked up their money yet to complete the transaction. (when a merchant picks up their funds, the status changes to "completed")

I wrote to Solution to ask if there was a problem, but have not heard back. As I understand it from the Paypal database, if a transaction is not completed in 5 days, the order is canceled, and the merchant can't pick up their payment. Hopefully, mp3 fiesta will complete the transaction before then.

might anyone here know why it's taking them a while to pick up their money? I would think that they wouldn't want to fill my mp3fiesta account until they actually HAD the money. Any insight would be appreciated- thanks!

Jeff

Hi Jeff and welcome to the forum

Did I understand this correctly? Your balance has been replenished but MP3Fiesta hasn't collected their money from PayPal yet

When exactly did you replenish your account?

I think it's nice of you to both write Solution directly and even try to reach him here. You can't be expected to do more than that.

I think you are quite entitled to begin using the money in your account because of that.

If Solution & co. don't collect the money in due time, then I'm sure you guys will be able to work something out for the next time you are to replenish your account.

First off- thanks for the welcome!

Second off- yes, the balance is there, and I've even downloaded the three out of print recordings I was wanting to download- no problem at all, and my account shows the adjusted balance. I put money in the account yesterday afternoon- a little over 24 hours ago (1:30 pm USA time).

However- Paypal still lists the payment I made using the Secure Card as "pending"- which strikes me as odd, since, if you've ever used paypal, you know that when you make a payment (for example, when you pay for an ebay auction) the transaction is listed as "completed" almost instantly.

I sent Solution a PM, then sent him a message at his mp3fiesta account. I can't think of anything more to do at this point, and I certainly don't want to get on the "bad side" of mp3fiesta- I have my receipt from the company they use to handle their transactions. Hopefully, mp3fiesta will pick up the $ that's waiting for them!

Jeff

Hi Jeff.

I'm VERY familiar with PayPal so I know that it is fairly rare that money is pending for that long - but since Solution still has 4 more days to pick up the money, I wouldn't worry to much - especially since you have tried to make contact with him twice

I'll try Morse code, if I must....

Seriously- yeah, money doesn't usually hang around Paypal for very long, and I know things on my end are working (lots of holiday e-commerce going on this time of the year, with Paypal getting the bulk of our business). But I know there's four more days to get the payment. if that deadline passes- well, Solaris- I may need you to vouch for my efforts in contacting Solution...
