On some of the other Russian/Ukrainian sites ( www.RuTunes.com and http://www.aom3.org/forum/26363-post231.html ) they (officially) have a problem with accepting Visa or MasterCard from American citizens - that's why you sometimes have to communicate directly with their Assistances
Thanks Solaris,

While you are responding to me, I figured I’d ask all the questions I could.

Are you telling me that, because I have an American credit card / bank account, it’s harder for them to accept payments? If so, do you know of any loop holes or other ideas I could try?

Also, are you in America? If so, how do you make your payments? If you’re not in America, still, how do you make payments?

I still haven’t heard anything back from their support group (only been about 24 hours).

Lastly, if you were in my shoes (and can’t deposit money into a Russian account) what would you do?

I had an account with AllOfMP3 and then with MP3Sparks but my account is empty. Is there another trick to deposit money into their account? All ways of funding those accounts seem to be down. Do you know if people in Russia can still use MP3sparks?

Let me know, and again, THANKS for all your help.

Also, Here's the response from MP3Fiesta.

It looks like I can't deposit money at all...

Hello!
There are usual reasons of decline:
- You' ve possibly made a mistake while entering the data
- Your card has expired
- Some banks have limitations pertaining to geographical location of the
card's use
- Some banks prohibit to use their cards for internet shopping
- Check the limit of your credit card or if there are enough money on
your debit card
- We doesn’t accept VISA gift cards

Best regards,
MP3fiesta support team,

Hi rbates80.

Some of these shops have officially had this policy - maybe because the RIAA behaves like the mother alien in "Aliens" aggressively controlling even the banks and credit card companies in America

But in MP3Fiesta's case you might far a little better if you direct your payment question to a guy named Solution and ask if he can give you a special treatment

Otherwise you as an American citizen have the opportunity to use PayPal's extremely nationality discriminating PayPal Plug-in - and so far we have only had reports of MP3Sparks customers being declined to pay using that one.

You have probably already guessed from the above that I'm not an American - I live in the cold northern part of Europe

First of all: MP3Sparks and MP3Fiesta aren't the only Russian/Ukrainian stores and if you PM me, I can tell you exactly which stores that will give you a special payment option

If you have friends that live in other parts of the world or American friends that are able to pay, you can give them (if you trust them enough) your username and a temporary password, and they can replenish your account for you and you can pay them back using (for instance) PayPal.

Many of these stores also have a gift card/voucher option, so you can get one of your trusted friends to buy you one of those and you can pay him/her back via PayPal.

No, there aren't any ways to replenish your MP3Sparks balance at the moment - not even if you're Russian

Solaris,

Again Thanks for your help. I have found a little resolution to the problem. I have had a coworker add to my balance (and YES, I trust him) using his Debit Card. He has a different bank than I do so that's probably the reason I coudn't deposit funds.

You were absolutly correct saying that certain cards / banks prohibit payments to these sites. Thanks for this.

Further more, I'm a little confused when you say that I would need to "PM" you for you to tell me what you're thinking (as in best sites to use for downloading). Please explain if you'd like.

Also, MP3Fiesta is a pain in the rear compared to AllOfMP3 or MP3Sparks because it doesn't seem to have a software that will streamline the downloading process (similar to AllTunes). I have to "right click > save as" on each of the files I wish to download. Arg! Do you know of any solution for this or is this just the nature of the beast?

Hey, again, thanks for all your help. At least I'm back to getting more music.

Hi rbates80.

You have a Private Messages (PM) section right here: http://www.aom3.org/forum/private.php

I (of course) use Firefox as my main browser and the Firefox extension called FlashGot, which you can right click and "FlashGot All," when you have filled your shopping basket at MP3Fiesta. This FlashGot extension I combine with Free Download Manager and yet another Firefox plug-in called Free Download Manager plug-in. This way I get download speeds of between 2 and 3 MB/sec on MP3Fiesta, which is roughly 15 times faster than I have ever had allTunes downloading at.

Hi There
When I use Fiesta I normally use Firefox too, with DownThemAll - the speeds are SO MUCH faster than the ol' right-click&save-as, and of course you can save the links to a hatfull of tracks with a click and then start the download which then runs in the background while you get on with something a tad more interesting!

More about the review than the payment issue - but a bit of the latter too. - 05-10-2008, 08:42 AM

1. RE: REVIEW I was wondering if it would be appropriate for it to be mentioned in the "official review" under "downloads" that one only gets 48hrs to download their purchases and then they have to re-purchase if they want it again. (Mp3Sugar used to do this too). It's not so much to detract potential customers - but more so they can make an informed decision. It would have been nice to know that "before" dropping 30 bucks into the account. It didn't really make a difference, but I know some people that pick a night to choose and purchase and then take more time later (like on the weekend) to download. This wouldn't work as well for them. Personally, I have learned to "backup" my mp3 collection periodically in data form (so more will fit) incase of crashes, but after that I have been more careful about using sites that archive your download history.

2. RE: PAYMENT issues.
In my experience it has taken a few days sometimes for account updates to show up - but they do show up. And - my method of payment has been a PrePaid Credit card (Canadian). That said - I have suddenly been experiencing *new* problems with russian/ukrainian sites taking my mastercard since the last time I updated my my fiesta account so I don't know if I would have that problem *now* where I didn't before.

Just my 2 cents (er...euros???)

I think a new review should take place for fiesta, which reflects the 100% price rise and the appalling way it has been brought in.

This smacks of greed, unless all the others do the same for a similar reason.
