After experiencing 20kbs - 40kbs MP3 downloads from another site, have now installed three Download Managers, Download Accelerator Plus, FlashGet, and Free Download Manager (yes, I always overdo it). Do these work best with Firefox vs. Internet Explorer, are some better than the others, and can you use them in conjunction with one another, to increase download speeds even further. I have a 1.5 MB DSL connection.

FDM seems to be popular around here..I use Flashget,but seems I'm the only
one who like it or has had any real success with it..

The server you're downloading from will accept a fixed maximum number of connections from you - typically around four. A multi-threading download manager will use all of those connections simultaneously (if you've configured it right), downloading different parts of the same file at a speed limited by your internet connection or the capacity of the server. You can't really use more than one download manager at a time unless you're downloading from different sources. The browser you're using shouldn't affect the download speed.

I'd advise trying them all, choosing the one you like best, and uninstalling the others. I'm quite happy with Free Download Manager. Cue a more tech proficient member to come along and contradict me
