Thumbs up Beth Rowley - 06-05-2008, 11:29 AM

Recently been listening to "Little Dreamer", the debut album by British singer-songwriter Beth Rowley, which is becoming one of my favourite albums of the year.
It has a laid back, bluesy, gospel feel to it, great for late night listening.
Her sound reminds me of Eva Cassidy (no bad thing in my book).
She has a wonderful voice and hopefully has a bright future.
An example of her style here: YouTube - Beth Rowley - "Nobody's fault but mine" at the Regal Room

I had a quick browse of this on sparks and liked what I heard. Have bookmarked it for a full preview on the weekend.

Thanks for the recommend, Starcat - keep 'em coming, this is the best way to find new music IMHO

Cheers,

Squash

I just saw her cd on Sparks and, since I was able to refill my balance (damn, I love the sound of that) I'll give it a try.

Just to clarify what I meant, I don`t think her VOICE sounds like Eva Cassidy (who could?), just that the overall sound and feel of the album reminded me of Eva`s material.
Great to hear that some of you guys are checking her out

I am way behind on this one, but gave her a listen last night while battling insomnia, and only this morning looked up this review. I overlooked it earlier.

My own reaction was "nice laid back, bluesy, gospel feel to it, great for late night listening. Her sound reminds me of Eva Cassidy".... Oh wait, I am quoting Good job, Starcat!!!!
