Thumbs up Coco Montoya-Last Dirty Deal - 07-06-2008, 01:10 AM

This album is from 2007 and it features guitarist extrodinare
Coco Montoya and the members of the band Little Feat so needless to say
it is full out blues with a funky beat.Coco is a Alligator Records
artist and plays a great deal like the late Albert Collins, also a label partner.

Highly recommended for fans of Electric Blues guitar.

Let me know what you think...

Hi Nightfly, a GREAT recommend . I've had the album for the last few months now and it's regularly blasting out

Talking of Blues although maybe not Electric Blues Guitar I've recently stumbled across the Blues singer Nora Jean Bruso with her album "Sings The Blues". Blimey has she got one hell of a voice on her

Hey Hirs,

What an amazing find..she's one of the best blues singers I've heard in many,
many years. She's right up there with the best...even thogh she's a Blues
singer she has great R&B sensibilities too.She and her band sound like
a throwback to the late 60's and 70's but yet very contemporary.
Very much what Sharon Jones does for soul with the Daptones.

Is this a skill or a talent, Solaris? Because I have neither, for this kind of thing, and that's why my admiration is double (if not squared!)

If you like Coco Montoya, you'll probably enjoy Painkiller by Tommy Castro. Coco plays on "a good fool is hard to find".

Every now and then even the most jaded music fan will find an album where all the pieces just fall into place. That's the case with Painkiller, Tommy Castro and his band firing on all cylinders as they roll through this spirited collection of blues, rock, R&B, and soul. Producer John Porter (Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Santana) has created a bright, beautiful mix for these songs, allowing Castro's charisma and the entire band's talents to shine right through your speakers. Painkiller won a 2008 Blues Music Award as "Contemporary Blues Album of the Year," and for good reasons...this album rocks! (Blind Pig Records)
