This is going to sound positively off topic now but here I go anyway. I love all the WB era Van. Basically everything from "Astral Weeks" to "Too Late to Stop Now" (1968-1974). "Hard Nose the Highway" is a bit tough to take but I lump it in there to keep things simple. I also am a fan the Them stuff, though it really is a different kettle o' fish from the Van that appears from "Astral Weeks" on. I sort of fell out of the later era (Polydor and on) stuff but I might have to go back and give some of them a listen. I haven't found the will to listen to anything since "Irish Heartbeat".

"Moondance", "Astral Weeks", and "St. Dominics Preview" are simply stunning records.

Thanks for getting us back on track talking about Van...
You have a good list there Meridian also my favs, but you have missed out on a lot of great Van albums. Check out The Philosopher's Stone a two album set of tracks Van had not been put out on albums...brillant.

Will do, thanks for the heads up. The odd bits of the more modern Van that I've heard haven't been bad, just not as powerful as the earlier stuff I mentioned. "Caravan" just feels like a spring/fall day to me.

To me with Van, is his levels of greatness. You can do that with any great artists,it makes the later and mid works no less vital.

"Jackie Wilson Said" and "Wild Nights" still sets me off.
