I have to confess to being such a huge fan of VM that I would probably get an album of him singing Gregorian chants accompanied by garbage tin lids without checking it out first. So, you could say I am a tad biased

However, his first totally new album since 2005 is brilliant. Classic Van Morrison, with 11 songs of blues/jazz/folk/soul - excellently produced. No over-the-top orchestration, just simple and smooth instrumentation and that distinctive voice.

Highly recommended.

I was going to get sucked in and reply to this. But there is a new rule - a thread has to be at least 2 posts long before it can be highjacked into "off-topic" land.

That's a good rule. However, the caveat is that the first post cannot in any way provoke off-topic conversation - such as your diversion into Gregorian chants. Surely you can't blame me for the fact that while getting my daily fix on the Amy Winehouse whereabouts yesterday Google led me straight to this marginally related article on the singing Gregorian monks. Surely you can't expect me to blindly overlook this sighting of Gregorian monks by me in the past 2 days! Had you not been so frivolous in name dropping of these singing sensations, I would not have been forced to go off-topic, and possibly never would have given them another thought. As it is, I think you are now obliged to follow your original inclination and respond to my original post.

Chad - the new rule as instituted by Squash below is, you can't go off-topic unless a thread has had at least two posts on-topic. Therefore, I am unable to address your inquiry at this time. Were I able to respond, I'd have said this this is indeed a baby hedgehog trying to scale a Granny Smith apple. Simultaneously it could be a allegorical representation of me during my acupuncture sessions

I have to confess owning the Halo I and II soundtracks, NOT, I hasten to add , because I am into games, but because I heard some of it played on the radio and thought it interesting.

I see Shad has got straight into the spirit of the new rule

So now that this thread had at least 2, possibly 3 post on topic of Gregorian Chants, is it safe to highjack it into off-topic land? I have to say, I get much more excited by Van Cliburn than Van Morrison.

I have room for both. Not to mention Van Gough and Van Clief

I thought of Van Gogh earlier, but I would have had to tag along all the other individuals of Dutch descent, and I don't think there's enough room for that in this thread. Who is Van Clief? The only Van Cleef I am familiar with is a diamond store - and don't get me started on that. This conversation could go into "waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off-topic" land. Also, I think you forgot Van Wilder.
