I have a very small balance on MP3Sparks and an account at Legal Sounds. Legal Sounds' classical range seems to quite narrow. I would appreciate any suggestions

Hi Pangloss

While I don't think anyone rivals the classical range of sparks, check out mclub. Do a genre search, quite a lot comes up for clasical, with a few well defined sub genres, including some Russian Classic that you may not find elsewhere

Hey Pangloss,

eMusic has all the Classical audiophile and great import labels like
Bis,Harmonia Mundi,Naxxos,Angel and much more, all titles are very
well represented by all composers.I am speaking from one who listens
to a great deal of classical music.

Mclub has some classical but is not substantial or marked properly for a real
classical enthusiast.

Unfortunately Sparks was the only site that I felt did Classical right, with
great taste and selections..but we'll have to wait on that.

Until then I suggest you would find a good home at eMusic.
Any other questions please feel free to post in the Emusic section

Damo, as discussed previously, apologizing will rake up those post counts towards senior membership. Dave C is our resident expert on those.

No Damo you are right to a degree...

MClub has a very nice Classical selection, I would say better than most.
I have checked it out and found many interesting titles there like say,
the pianist Andreas Schiff ,one of my favorites..they have a nice selection
by him..most sites don't have any.
But if you are looking past the basic classical library and looking
for more esoteric pieces, than Emusic in this instance would be a better
choice..but Mclub has a classical catalogue that should be looked at,never the less.

and my money is on you to be the next Sr. Member......

While you guys discuss the best shops to buy second hand classical music, I am going to go enjoy La Boheme at The Met tonight. Ciao!

Not an Rutunes site, but you can't get more classical than
Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft

Much more pricey than the Russian sites, but it's pleasing to know they sell their downloads as 320kbps DRM free mp3s.
