Hope I'm not being selfish - 01-20-2008, 07:34 PM

Hi all, I do appreciate there are other fine recommends within 'Classical' which I'm slowly trawling through but, rather cheekily, I would welcome some specifically targeted recommendations

Time has taught me that if you want to be steered in the right direction then this forum is the only place

Over the last 2-3 years I've been building my Rock, Blues & Chart collection quite well, my collection of big Classical is OK (I prefer Rock or Opera for the big stuff) but my collection of calm classical to listen to on a Sunday night (to try to get in the right frame of mind for the week ahead ) has been seriously overlooked.

Some of my favourites (in a rough order of preference) are:
Mozart - Flute Concerto in G Major
Flute Quartets
Clarinet Quintet & Oboe Quartet
Clarinet Concerto
Wind Serenades
Albinoni – 6 Concerto Op 9
Boccherini - Cello Concerto
Telemann - Violin Concertos
Tomaso Albinoni – Concerti a cinque Op. 9
Vivaldi – Concerto for Cello / Concerto for Cello & Bassoon
Flute Concertos Op 10
Four Seasons
J. S. Bach – Concerto for Violin & Strings A Minor / E Major
Concerto for Two Violins & Strings in D Minor

If you can help out I'd be really grateful and sorry if anyone considers this to be a duplicate thread

Hirs,

First you could Never be called selfish ..you are one of the most giving
members on this site and helping you is a pleasure for us all..

You have a very fine list there of some relaxing music of substance.

Mozart..Flute and Harp Concerto...
Divermenti Music(sorry I don't have the #s on those) but they were light
pieces that Mozart composed for the Court as background music during
parties.

Vivaldi...anything you don't have already..would be great...you can't
go wrong with Vivaldi..He wrote over 600 concertos...all beautiful.

Handel-Concerti Grosso and also Water Music

Bach-Brandenberg Concertos

I will edit this list as I will think of others.
