J.S.Bach ....Gamba Sonatas - 08-15-2007, 05:29 AM

J.S. Bach
Gamba Sonatas 1027-1029 by Angela Hewitt and Daniel Muller-Schott

I would like to recommend this new release on Mp3sparks...
I've been listening to this one for 2 days now..and I really love it.
They are sonatas for cello and piano by Bach as performed by Angela Hewitt on piano and Daniel Muller-Schott on cello. I was not familiar before hand with these artists, but I found the playing on this set to be very vibrant, and there is a chemistry between the two artists that makes this recording special.I particularly like Angela Hewitt's playing on this one.
This one is a keeper.

Just looked up Angela Hewitt. She is noted as being one of the foremost Bach pianists. She's worked on a Bach project since 1994, that spans 14 CDs, that only recently got completed.

Thanks for the info..I will definitely look for more recordings by her..she reminds me of one of my favorite Bach interpreters Andreas Schiff.

Take care,

Nightfly

Thanks for the recommend - I have added it to my collection. The recording (as well as the playing) is excellent.

Thanks for your recommendation Nightfly - I'm not an expert in classical music, but I looooove Bach!

BTW, it's very unusual to meet someone with musical tastes as broad as yours.... congratulations!

Thank you Squash and Bruno glad you liked this recording as much
as I did, and thank you Bruno for your kind words. But many of our members
here have very diverse tastes in music and needed to find Mp3spark to
fill that desire to hear it all..why should we have any restraints, when
it comes to listening and discovering new music.I see you too Bruno
have diverse interests as well and I have picked up a few recommends
from you as well as Squash.
You know I loooove Bach as well ,and I will make a new review
of just Bach favorites that I found on Sparks and others related
download sites today or tomorrow.I think that there are other Bach lovers
out there and hopefully we'll get a discussion going.

Thanks again,

Nightfly

Hi Nightfly,
just wanted to say thanks for this recommendation. I downloaded it yesterday and have spent the day working away to it in the lab (it makes a change from the usual Mika). As you know, I am not a big classical fan, but I quite liked this one,
Cheers,
Dave C

Hello Dave,

Really Glad you enjoyed it ! ..This music can be played in the background
or listened at home with a glass of wine or beer. You might be a Bach fan..
(and please don't mention Bach and that group with a M in the same sentence
...here come the flames)..I will work on a review of more Bach related
recordings...

Good to hear from you,

Nightfly
