Latest pop discoveries - 06-22-2008, 02:11 PM

Found some good ones recently.

First up is UK singer Florence and the Machine... her song Kiss With a Fist is great. I'm not a fan of Kate Nash and Lily Allen really but this reminds me a little of them. Great lyrics. I expect this to do well.

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

MySpace.com - Florence and The Machine - UK - Grindcore / Akusmatik / Bandmusik / Melodramatischer Pop-Song - www.myspace.com/florenceandthemachinemusic

Seeing some other videos of her on Youtube, she actually has a good voice

Next up is The Holograms... a deceptively very cute sounding group. Their song The New I Love You is a fantastic, great sounding song which you want to sing along to. Then you realise what it's about!

MySpace.com - The Holograms - LOS ANGELES - Powerpop / Pop-Punk / Pop - www.myspace.com/theholograms

Lastly, Blondfire, a New York based brother-sister team who deserve more recognition (can't remember whether I've mentioned them before). The female singer has a good voice that's a little different from anything I've heard. Lllove is their most catchy song but all their work is good. I pirated their album, donated a bit of money to their Paypal donation box on their website, and then bought it off Amazon

MySpace.com - Blondfire - NEW YORK, BRAZIL, New York - Pop / Alternativ / Indie - www.myspace.com/blondfire

Blondfire is very nice. Just heard "L-L-Love" on YouTube.

Like the sound of both the Holograms & Blondfire. Samples of all three of the bands can be found on emusic; think I will start with Blondfire.
