You can't be everything to everybody..They try and fail terribly..

It's a old pop formula that we have heard to many times..
Maybe kids who haven't heard it yet or people who really really like
their pop sugar coated.. different strokes.....

Wow, I can't believe you are saying this. I do not usually go for the pop stuff, but I loved the Mika album. There are only really two tracks on there which do not come up to scratch and it has been one of my most played albums over the last 5 months. If this was that banning thing, both you & Nightfly would be out of here,
Cheers,
Dave

I have to agree with Dave

Grace Kelly was one of my favourites of late last year (November/December) and Relax (Take It Easy) is one of my three favourite tracks of this year so far. The other two being Map Of The Problematique by Muse and Wine Destroys The Memory by At Swim Two Birds.

I like things sweet - but too much sugar gives you a tummy ache!

There's fundamentally nothing wrong with the Mika formula. It's fun; it's light; it's gay; the songs are perfectly crafted; the voice is just the right falsetto.

Whereas I love love love the Scissor Sisters (particularly their first album!) - Mika just doesn't work for me.

I've downloaded him only a few days ago - expecting this to be the next main fixture on my iPod, but it's not working for me.

I've kept "Grace Kelly", "Any Other World", "My Interpretation" and "Stuck in the Middle", "Billy Brown" on my iPod, for potential "growth-on-me", although I don't see it happening.

Others, which are singles (Relax, Lollipop, Big Girl, etc, etc, etc) are permanently banned from entry to my iPod.

I normally like all things "groovy baby.... yeah!", as the great Austin Powers would say

Mika will probably grow on me - since I love Scissor Sisters.

Oh no - it's happening already !

Bloody peer pressure!

My top tracks this year thus far are :-

Joss Stone - "Arms of my Baby"
The Shins - "Phantom Limb"
Prince - "Guitar"

This is just from Albums released in 2007. My most played artists at the moment are Amy Winehouse, James Morrison, and Razorlight.

I guess I like things "groovy"

Talking I join the pro-Mika front - 08-07-2007, 08:27 AM

Hi Friends!

I must agree with Dave & Solaris. I like Mika, I've downloaded the album and the singles (yesterday the new sparks release, Big Girl). Maybe Dave, Solaris & me like Mika because we aren't a huge pop consumers and this guy sounds different? Or maybe because I guess we have similar age? Well, I don't know if this is the case of Dave or Solaris about pop music, but this is what I guess from other posts related to our music preferences.

Kalvin
