Surprise finds in Pop part 1 - 05-27-2007, 12:41 AM

After stumbling across a review of ‘The Divine Comedy’ latest album; ‘Victory for the Comic Muse’ I decided to give it a try and was blown away (Neil Hannon is a genius). The band is perhaps best known for a couple of single releases ‘Generation Sex’ & ‘National Express’ which to be honest are nothing special. Do not let these releases put you off their other stuff. Without exception, all tracks on ‘Victory for the Comic Muse’ are excellent; they even managed to improve on ‘The Associates’ classic; ‘party fears two’. Their previous album; ‘Absent Friends’ is equally as good. A bit harder to find, but worth the search is their second proper album release; ‘Promenade’. This takes a couple of listens to get into, but is well worth the effort. Give at least one of these albums a try, you won’t regret it,
Cheers,
Dave C

I loved "Something For The Weekend". Those flying cows... Brilliant stuff

Thanks Dave C, I didn't know them and as I usually do, I'm doing a "pick and choose" among their albums. "Mother dear" was a lightning; that banjio took me to Neil Young and "After the gold rush" and there is kind of Roxy Music/Brian Ferry sensation coming out from Neil Hannon strong personality.
But above all I like them, thanks my friend.

Ciao
