Eels - 02-16-2008, 01:55 AM

I've managed to find a few good albums so far this year the most notable being '19' from Adele, 'Alas I Can Not Swim' from Laura Marling (Thanks Dave), 'One Cell In The Sea' from A Fine Frenzy, and 'Skybound' from Tom Baxter.

'A Twist In My Story' from Secondhand Serenade was pretty good as was 'Hernando' from the Mississippi All Stars and even 'Some People Have Real Problems' from Sia slipped through but the one that has really knocked be back on my heels is Eels ''Meet The Eels".

I've never heard of them before (although a couple of tracks were familiar) - maybe I'm really sad but it's a fact, but what a fantastic collection of music.

'Mr. E's Beautiful Blues', 'Susan's House' and 'Love Of The Loveless' are my absolute favourite tracks but 'Novocaine For The Soul', 'Three Speed' and 'Rail Road Man' are also real stand outs.

Ok, oK all the long time Eels fans are going to come rushing to the fore to tell me how behind the times I am and I'm sorry for being so pathetically, musically, retarded but I've seen the light that is Eels. All right maybe you pointed the way before but I never noticed - SORRY. Give me break, yeh, look it's a damned brilliant album and I'm sorry I never picked up on the band before but back off for crissake. Damn you fanatics never let up do you.

Hey Hirs,

You're not alone...

If it wasn't for Dave C. I would be pretty deficient in this Genre of music,
Awile ago he turned me on to the Eels..some times a little to slow going
for me...but see the quality in their songwriting and approach.

Hi Nightfly,
Either you are getting me confused with another member, or I am suffering server memory loss. I've heard of the Eels, but do not have any of there stuff (downloading the album as we speak). I know the song Novocaine For The Soul (don't know where from) and it is excellent. Will listen to this later tonight while recovering from the Alton beer festival,
Cheers,
Dave C

Hi Nightfly, don't worry those grey cells are still functioning OK. It was Kalvin Kleenex who recommended Eels, on 25th July last year

Take these words and try to re-arrange them into a well known saying or phrase:
arse
Smart

Even through the drunken haze this sounds like a good album. Will give it a better listen to tomorrow while suffering with a head ache,
Cheers,
Dave C
