Frost - Milliontown - 03-26-2008, 04:21 AM

It's a bit of a dark horse, but the Play.com music store seems quite a good place to buy DRM free mp3s. They have pretty much all the latest albums that you'd normally probably go to iTunes for.

Anyway, just noticed they have the amazing goodness that is Frost's Milliontown album, for the absolute frigging bargain price of £3.95...

Since I heard it early 2006, it's been one of my favourite albums ever. Just listen to Snowman. Then all the other tracks. They're just as good.

You can get it for about 1 pound ($2.25) on Sparks, if you still have any credit

I know of two court cases in Russia that have said so

What's the basis for drawing such a conclusion about Play.com

Well, it's legally licensed by record companies to sell downloadable music (i.e. it's not one the US is trying to shut down!) The fact that it is legal is surprising when you consider some of the prices, such as the new Raconteurs album for a fiver.

Play.com is a popular UK/US Amazon type website, in case you don't know it!

You probably can't purchase from it from Australia though

To prevent music fans from around the world access to buy and download music from a "legal" shop is in my point of view a MUCH bigger crime than selling it without the copyright owner's full accept (given that they pay the 15% the Russian copyright laws dictate)

That's true, the downside. It is VERY frustrating to find a service that you're unable to access (and want to pay for) due to STUPID regional licensing restrictions. E.g. sites like Hulu in the states that allows Americans to watch hundreds of shows online for free...hell, even South Park are being restrictive: South Park Studios

Proxy software like Ultrareach doesn't seem to work for me anymore. There was a point when I was happily buying movies and mp3s from the Amazon download store.

Frost's debut album was awesome - I agree. They have announced that the release of their sophomore album, 'Experiments in Mass Appeal' will be around September this year. They also have a new member, Declan Burke, who has taken over lead vocal duties from John Mitchell, who remains on guitar and backing vox.
