Thumbs up Marillion Fans....... - 01-13-2008, 06:11 PM

Any fans who do not have this or anyone wishing to try out Marillion for the first time, I can recommend this "2 x CD best of", that mp3sale has today kindly added for me, via their forum. Great band, great songs.

The Best Of Both Worlds [Cd 2] Marillion mp3

The Best Of Both Worlds [Cd 1] Marillion mp3

I also recommend Marbles, probably their best album. The two albums added at mp3sale are a compilation released in 1997. There are a lot of good albums after this.

Personally prefer the older stuff when Fish was the singer, i'm afraid the new man is not for me.
Although "Best Of Both Worlds" contains both.

Well I prefer h, the second singer, but I have to admit that the music they are doing now is absolutely different than when they started.

But I followed Fish's career since he left Marillion and it's also very interesting. I guess that if you prefer the Fish era of Marillion, you also like Fish's solo albums. There are six of them at mp3sale:

Fish mp3

I have a dozen tracks by Fish and a dozen tracks of Marillion without Fish, my personal opinion is that neither of them have never ever reached the dizzy heights of their first four studio albums together, and probably never will again.

Absolutely agree with you on this one chris. For me, their top four albums (in order) are:-
1) Misplaced Childhood
2) Clutching at Straws
3) Script for a Jester's Tear
4) Fugazi
I also think the first two Fish albums were excellent, but they went downhill from there on,
Cheers,
Dave C

I can't decide which of his first two albums I prefer. Both have got some excellent songs; my favourite being Big Wedge & The Company from Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors and Lucky & Internal Exile from Internal Exile. If I had to chose one it would probably be Virgil, but it's a close run thing,
Cheers,
Dave

Dave,
you hum "Virgil" and the rest of us will try and join in?

P.S. "Virgil", wasn't he in Thunderbirds?
