Blind pig records have a great web site and always offer free downloads of their artists new releases!Deborah Coleman, john nemeth, Popa Chubby, their stable of artists is quite impressive.
BT.... I saw a 3 disc cd of Popa Chubby doing Hendrix live have you heard this
one... he's a great guitar player but 3 discs...Is it a imitation or interpretation..
I might download 1 disc to check it out.. Yes Blind Pig has a great stable of artists....You mention Deborah Coleman she's a pretty good player..and there's Susan Tedeschi (not on blind pig)who I think is a fine player..do you know of any other female blue's guitarist that you listen to.
14 yrs old and has 3 albums got to check Bowskill out..
Thanks,
Nightfly

Thumbs up femle blues player's - 05-31-2007, 03:25 AM

I saw Susan Tedeschi at the Burnaby Blues festival last summer. She puts on a amazing show. She was third billing after Buddy Guy (the man's great, looks 50 not the 70yrs old that he is), and Koko Taylor (wasn't very good, looks old and well past her prime!).
Popa Chubby has a lot of original material, a lot of which are real gems.
Female blues players I really like include Debbie Davies (Blind Pig records for a while) and Ana Popovic http://www.anapopovic.com/, also Kelly Richey Band http://www.kellyrichey.com/
Susan Tedeschi's Husbands band "The Derek Trucks Band" is worth checking out, especially the song Revolution!
I believe Jimmy Bowskill is now a mature 16yrs old !
The Kelly Richey bands site has free Mp3 downloads !

Yes..Koko has out a new album..very bad..Buddy I think is the best living Blues guitar player...Dereck Trucks is an amazing slide player for the A Bros.
at such a young age he really does sound alot like Dwayne Allman who I saw
a few times..he carries the legacy well...His studio albums are really good but I think he's captured best live..there is some good live material on the net...
Check out www.nugs.net they have a link to download free mp3.. concerts "free stash" material mostly from Jam Bands but some good Blues Jam stuff as well. They are very generous, give you the whole concert that the bands donate to the site for the fans..More bands of all genres should do that to promote good will among the masses.

About Latin Music - 05-31-2007, 06:51 AM

Hey Nightfly if your next step is Latin, have a look here; www.fiesta.it
I've been in the organization stuff for five years now, and this festival is 13 years old. I must say (truly) that after three summer months of latin music every night, you can get a little bored (lol). The problem is that when you're 52 (me) you must face the fact that you're a rock kid that has grown up to jazz, fusion, alternative and so on and you'll never get enough. But if I should make a choice in Latin I shoud say that Cuba has given really much for me (ex: Buena Vista Social Club). Just an opinion, anyway I'm waitin for Gabriel and Genesis here (who knows? maybe a one night reunion?)

Ciao

Wow, you've workin' while I was sleepin'! - 05-31-2007, 02:00 PM

Hi!

I cant't leave you alone, boys, even for a few hours (since my last post)!!

How much information! I can't process it (my brain is MS-DOS still!)

Well, I will try this long weekend (here, in Barcelona, next monday is holiday) to visit all the web pages and listen all the music you have recommend.

Haroldissimo, did you see a post I wrote about progressive? I don't think Marillion can be considered, actually, a progressive band, but I agree with you that Marbles is a very nice album (I really love Neverland). Probably, with Brave, are their best albums. (By the way, I never download any Marillion album, I always buy them, because they were mistreated by their company, EMI, and they have a very kind attitude towards their fans. I can buy their official and "unofficial" albums through their web page.) Well, if you like Progressive, have you listened to Transatlantic? I you don't, I recommend you. They are a MegaBand with some members of Marillion, Spock's Beard and Dream Theater. I also recommend you a band called Kino.

Kalvin

Harold.. Gracias ...love that link I've been listening to "Mambo Radio"
its great..Of course I will include Afro-Cuban music I listen to African
musicians and bands that do rhumba and salsa the music is called Soukous
(means hip shaking) that features guitars great stuff and some have big band with horn and great singers and they jam for about 12 mins on a song...
though I'm not including that in the Latin review I am taking my time because
as a gringo.lol.I want it to be good and insprire other non-Latins to listen to this great moving, joyous music..You already know the joy... Gabriel /Genesis?
as soon as David Lee Roth rejoins Van Halen
Take care and thanks,
Nightfly

singer that I will look into as well..but Kelly plays with alot of power and guts..
Thanks for the recommend..when I told my now 21 year old daughter when
she was younger..honey you can do anything in this world you want..you
have the power..these women prove my case..I will play these for her this week. Thanks..
