Anyone who appreciates the value of a well-crafted melody and a sumptuous arrangement, topped off with layers of creamy harmonies should check out the debut album by a guy called Brent Cash - which just showed up here Satisfaction guaranteed.

If you like the Beach Boys, you must love The Shins (Beach Boys reinvented for the 21st Century! )

You'd think so, but I always found them a bit lacking in the old melody department. Brian Wilson's a pretty tough act to follow in that respect. Among the few who've managed it, for my money, are the High Llamas, Louis Philippe, the Wondermints (who became Brian's backing band) and the aforementioned Brent Cash - or Bent Crash as he's know Chez Radioshoes.

Look out for a youngster called Paul Steel, too. I don't know if his album Moon Rock is available on any of the Russian sites yet, but it's worth keeping an eye out for.

LOVE the Shins. Great band, witty lyrics... and the fact that they came out of Albuquerque, NM.

Also really like Spoon, which is a somewhat similar band with a genius front guy who writes most of the music.

I've heard of them - probably in passing while discussing the Shins, but never checked them out. I'll have a look into Spoon. Thanks!!

I thought "Gimme Fiction" was better than "Ga Ga Ga Ga", which is the latest release by the Spoons. Love that CD.

Many people compare The Shins to the Beach Boys because of
the song "Phatom Limb" but it ends there.I think the Shin are a fine band.
I like the Spoons as well but I perfered Ga,GA,GA,GA

Gonna check out this Brent Cash fellow...sounds right up my alley.

Thank to all above for your recommends...

I think many compare the Shins to the Beach Boys because of their first 2 albums Way before Phantom Limb came along
