Not sure how big they were in Aus. but they deserved a lot more recognition. I was lucky enough to see them live in London twice back in the mid 90`s. They were superb live. It`s a shame a lot more Aussie bands don`t get success here in the UK.

Hi Starcat'
WPA were well known in Oz, particularly in their home state, Victoria.
One of the things I really like about Alltunes/Sparks is the full length previews. This allows me to spend hours just browsing looking for something new - often from outside the dominant USA and British music scene.
This forum has also been a great place to find new music. I have discovered some fabulous stuff from Scandanavia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada etc which would never get air-play in Oz.
Maybe we could start a thread -
"Bands from Your Country That Never Made The Big Time - But Should Have".
Other Oz bands you may not have heard much about but could be of interest are
Savage Garden, The Whitlams, Men At Work, Hoodoo Gurus, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Augie March, Grinspoon and Eskimo Joe.
My latest "discovery" is in fact a Brit band which I understand is big in the modern folk scene in the UK but I had never heard. It's called
Show of Hands and they recently released a 'best of' 2CD set that I just love. Highly recommended.
