Thumbs up Regina Spektor - 06-22-2007, 01:12 AM

Just a quick post to see if anyone else has ever heard of / tried any Regina Spektor?? Until a couple of days ago I had never heard of her but after trying one of her albums on a whim (Mary Ann Meets The Gravediggers And Other Short Stories), I have now gone out and got her other two albums off allofmp3. It is difficult to describe her, but think of Joanna Newsom's & Amy Winehouse's voice being spliced together with some excellent songs and you are getting close. Worth a try,
Cheers,
Dave C

Hey Dave.. downloaded Begin to Hope ...It's a good album but I have to give it a few more listens...it's a little quirky but there's something really compelling
about her.. in the same vain of singer song writer.. I recommend the
new Susan Vega featured on allofmp3 right now..I think it's a really good
album ..played it a few times through ..it's my pick hit of the week in my house..lol...
Take care,
Nightfly

She's fantastic. I saw her as an opening act for Keane in New York before anyone's heard of her I think. Or at least before I heard of her. This was back in 2005. She's getting a lot of notoriety now. Very happy about it. A Russian immigrant girl to New York - just like me. Fantastic success story.

Late seeing this! I LOVE Regina Spektor (and Joanna Newsom). Begin to Hope is awesome, not so keen on Mary Ann though.

Did you know... - 08-11-2007, 09:57 AM

Did you know, that Suzanne Vega's hit "Tom's Diner" was the first ever song converted to mp3 some 20 years ago?

I know it's unrelated to that thread, but the artist was mentioned here.

Cheers
