I concur with the St Vincent - Marry Me recommendation, it's awesome, and with the Jesca Hoop - Kismet one as well (not out yet on Allofmp3 though).

Jesca Hoop?? - 08-10-2007, 12:02 AM
There have been a couple of posts mentioning Jesca Hoop and her album Kismet. I can not find any mention of Jesca Hoop on any of the sites I use (mp3sparks, GoMusic.ru, legalsounds, mp3sale.ru, soundsbox or even itunes). Amazon says it's not avaliable until 18 September so I guess I am waiting unless anyone knows of a site with it on??

Heh, that's where I found it!

Bolachas gratis is probably really popular among those who don't like to pay for music but I like to use it to just discover new music. Last album I really liked from there (Basia Bulat) I went to the record store and bought.

You can find some great live recordings of Jesca (think uploaded by her) at the Internet Archive. Here's one page of her recordings, where you can listen without downloading in the flash player:

thanks for the links to Jesca Hoop. I just checked her out on her 'myspace' and she sounds good. As soon as her album hits one of the download sites I will definitely be getting it,

Anyone recommending Kate Nash or Amy McDonald?

Heard those names before, but not had a time to check out. Both albums appeared on MM today.

Hi,
never heard of either of them, but based on the strength of Amy McDonald's single 'my rock & roll', I am just about to download the album. It sounds quite jolly, and after spending the last 2 hours picking my fantasy football team I need something to tap me toe to. Thanks for mentioning it,

Sampled a few of Kate Nash tracks lazily and discarded.

Might download Amy McDonald - although I wonder if one KT Tunstall is quite enough for my music library.
