Feist - particularly the albums 'Let it Die' and 'The Reminder'
Loreena McKennit - 'An Ancient 'Muse'
Sissel - 'All Good Things' and 'Into Paradise'

And for something a little different, check out Marianne Antonsen's album 'Blomster I Soweto' ( I got it from eMusic).

Hehe, awesome to see others with similar taste to me. I have all Loreena McKennit's albums (most on cd, actually) and prefer Book of Secrets and Mask and Mirror to An Ancient Muse.

I'd also recommend Capercaillie (Delirium), Mari Boine Persen and Cara Dillon if you don't already know about them!

Had a quick listen to Capercaillie and Cara Dillon on mp3sale and will DL both when I get a chance. However, I am going to have to find the Dillon somewhere else as the bitrate on mp3sale is only 128. I will also have to find the Persen stuff elsewhere as it isn't on mp3sale.

Thanks for the recommends.

That's a pain...I guess you don't have any credit with Mp3sparks/MM as all are on there?

Thanks. I can't look there yet as my second-born is logged into my account on another computer. Well, I could log on but this would cut her off and teenage ire is not something I wish to endure right now

Thumbs up Nordic Nightingales - 01-24-2008, 06:10 AM

Further to my earlier post, I have now listened to the 3 Persen albums on Alltunes and DL'd immediately.

Some of her songs have not found favour will all in the Squash household but I like her AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS

All these wonderful female singers from the frozen north - Hey Solaris, where have you been hiding all this talent

I'm interested. She is not on Sparks though. Any pointers as to where she is available for DL?

Actually I believe she is on Sparks, you would have to find the Russian spelling and use that in the search engine. You can try a search for "Farlanders".
It's a shame that one has to do this and the search engine can't locate such music for speakers other than Russian.

Try this in the search:
Желанная Инна

Here is a write up:
Jazzdimensions - Farlanders - Russia meets Europe

Glad you like Mari Boine squash - I can understand everyone not liking Mari Boine, she's distinctive and probably an acquired taste

Thanks klaatu for the Inna Zhelannaya tip (I saw her come up a lot in searches doing collaborations with Mari Boine!), I found her by looking up Farlanders, and me likes. A lot.
