Dang Free Download Manager is totally the answer to my problem.

I've been using it for a while now but never noticed that at the bottom of the download box there are three options to download:
Automatically
Manually
Schedule

By selecting Schedule and then clicking the clock icon you can select the date and time you want to start the download. I've used it a few times now and it works perfectly.

The only warning I would give is don't try to schedule the download from the main FDM window as it won't work.

Ah well hope that helps anyone else who needs to schedule downloads

Extremely belatedly I admit but my last post was designed to tie up the loose ends.

I worked on the basis that maybe someone was desperate to find a solution to the problem that I had (no not that problem, the schedule one) therefore rather than someone having to trawl through our, extremely, high quality chit chat I merely decided to conclude the matter formally.
