The review was of VisualHub's ability to convert non-dvd files such as .avi or .mkv media into dvd files. Likewise it focused on the app's versatility. You've compared this to ripping a dvd and this is incorrect. You'd need to compare Mactheripper's ripping ability and DVD2OneX2's remastering and burning process. Using that comparison MTR will rip a dvd between 10 and 20 minutes and then the file goes into DVD2OneX2. This latter application will finish the whole process in under 10 minutes. Likewise DVD2onex2 allows you to find and omit zero cells, will find and overcome most errors and will then burn the finished product. However many mac users don't use this application.

In actual fact you don't have to use VisualHub to burn a dvd. Likewise you don't have to use DVD2oneX2 but you must use one or the other. I was merely providing users with information as to how dated the application Toast actually is.

If users DON'T have Dvd2OneX2 then VisualHub will do the trick as well but you'll only be able to use your internal burner. I sometimes use all three but more often than not I use MTR and DVD2oneX2. I hope that clarifies the situation.
I stand corrected - I should have read your post more thoroughly first time around, sorry

Regards, viracocha

VisualHub to be discontinued, get in quick - 10-07-2008, 02:28 AM

Some months ago I wrote a review of VisualHub made by Techspansion.com and indicated that for video files to be converted into dvds this application blew Toast's bloat ware out of the water. Well unfortunately the software maker is closing shop for personal reasons.

VisualHub is easy to use and the quality is far superior to anything (windows or mac) on the market. The application has an easy to use interface and it's footprint is miniscule. It appears the source code will go public and hopefully someone will pick it up and further develop the application

Vale Techspansion, you brought many a smile to the hoards of Toast refugees who found an application that converted video files in record time with a minimum of fuss. I guess in this area of software bloat ware rules. Bugger that!

VisualHub to be discontinued, get in quick…an addendum - 10-07-2008, 10:31 AM

After logging off I realised that mac users would no longer be able to get a hold of VisualHub because Techspansion is now closed for business. As the owner is going to list the software as open-source and, as users have no avenue of purchasing it I'll give you all a torrent link so you can download the software. Please note that if there was any away for people to legally purchase the software I wouldn't go down this path. The link is: Techspansion.zip (download torrent) - TPB

And for heaven's sake follow the links down the page so you can get everything working.

VisualHub has become a near and dear friend. I'm keeping a copy of the installer handy though, just in case.
