Recommended MP3 tagging software? - 07-06-2008, 09:32 AM

I recently moved to a sansa view player, and while the sound is great, I can't just dump a load of tracks in a folder and play the folder.

This means that tags are suddenly a LOT more important, and many of mine are in a mess! I put a bunch of Brian Eno on the player, only to see that I have tracks by Brian Eno, Eno, ENO and even Brain Eno - and no idea which one did which album.

So what I am looking for is a bit of software that will do things like apply the same artist name to everything in the folders under the current one, without touching other fields.

Anyone able to recommend anything? What tagging software do you use?

freddy, have a look at post #6 here, the third prog mentioned should help you well.

if after trying you'd have some feedback or opinion, lets hear it.

Some time ago I had to face a problem of choosing a good and easy MP3 tag editor. At download.com I found dozens of freeware and shareware tools. I chose a program that had good interface and was easy to use: mp3Tag Pro.

unfortunately not for the MAC, but for those who prefer free
(but sometimes still better) programs, see the post #6 here.
