Rename files from metadata - 04-07-2008, 05:47 PM

I'm in the process of making sure my metadata is correct by running all my music through MusicBrainz Picard (one of the best music data analysers around).

Now that my metadata is looking all neat and tidy, I was about to ask the question if any software exists that RENAMES music from the metadata automatically.

I have too many titles that look like this: 09_Blue_Danube_Waltz.mp3, or worse.

Anyway, I've now answered my own question and found this free software called Tag Scanner. It looks damn good and does a GREAT job. I tested it for viruses etc with Kaspersky, seems to be fine.

Glad it's helpful to you!

Really, MusicBrainz Picard + this TagScanner are the most awesome things ever.

I was using MediaMonkey at first but that fetches data from Amazon, which sometimes has very inaccurate music listings. MusicBrainz analyses the music and gives you a percentile and a visual for how closely a track/album matches. Now I've organised my collection it'll be pretty easy to run stuff through both programs when I download new music

Do you know if this works for music with non latin characters, some of my music is Russian and those are the ones I need to sort out as they are in the worst state regarding tagging.
