Dear Santa - 05-20-2008, 08:19 AM

Dear Santa,

What I want by the time of the southern hemisphere yuletide (June 25) is the following:

1. A music site that delivers new music at 320 kbps. At the moment we have one site that promises everything and delivers little at a quality bitrate. Iomoio is the latest site to promise high bitrates. It didn't happen so I feel let down. Millisong has the bitrates (and I know they're promising new music) but the music by and large is soooo dated. My problem is that what Millisong has to offer I already have in my music collection. Therefore week after week I forlornly look for new music…and waste my time.

2. A movie site that offers movies that are near dvd quality that doesn't have pixels spreading over the screen. I'm referring to zml that has the nerve to peddle some movies at "near dvd quality"…which it isn't and divx files that are a joke. Read my review at http://www.aom3.org/forum/other-musi...eview-zml.html and scroll down the page.

It's now got to the stage that I'm beginning to use p2p sites for music and I'm now going to the video store to do a rent and rip. I'd much rather pay for both the music and the movies.

So there you have it Santa. I'll wait for another month and then I'm giving up on Russian and Ukranian sites for music and movies. Please Santa help me out because I really want to spend money but the sites just aren't delivering the goods.

P.S. Nice to see Memphis Members had the cigarette option but us ordinary "sparkies" got nothing, zip and nil.

I must say my experience with ZML is different to yours. I have DL'd over 40 movies in Divx format and only had one with A/V sync problems. Both sound and vision have been generally excellent. I had far more hassles with rented movies freezing than I have had with ZML downloads. If there is a difference in quality, I don't notice it so it doesn't bother me.

I would be interested to hear the views of other members who have tried this site.

Cheers,

Squash

Squash;

I have used ZML in the past with mixed results. While I have not used in a couple of months, I did have a problem with trying to burn one of the Divx movies (The Simpson Movie) to dvd. I got it to burn, but while trying to play on the DVD player, got a message to the effect that it would not play because I lived in the wrong part of the planet. Don't remember the exact message. A message to their customer service remains unaswered.

Other than that, things have gone OK with ZML.

See Ya - Mark

Interesting Mark - sounds like you have a region specific DVD player. However I would be surprised if there were any movies on ZML that were region specific. But, you never know

I will purchase the The Simpsons movie (I have been looking for an excuse ) and see if I have any problems. Did you try playing it on your computer with the VCL media player that you can DL from the ZML site? This is a small and simple program that works very well sound and vision wise.

Also, I use Nero to burn CD's and DVD's but always override the default write speed to something much slower. I don't get many faulty burns as a result.

Cheers,

Squash

Suggestion: Use Gom Player instead: GOM software - Free, Simple, Light, It just plays! - GOM Media Player, GOM encoder (it's freeware just like VLC is)

It is however much better than VLC (which is also good - but nevertheless nowhere near GOM in sharpness etc., when it comes to video files)

Slysoft AnyDVD: SlySoft Products | Copy Movie DVDs with AnyDVD and CloneDVD removes those imbecile regional and territorial codings, which you described in your post earlier

I believe it's my duty as a DVD buying person to break these codes as often as humanly possible thereby signaling that it ought to be made a criminal offense to put them there in the first place

AnyDVD also removes trailers and those annoying "Don't pirate this movie"-sequences that you have to sit through, when you want to watch a movie, you've just BOUGHT for your hard earned money

You can get a plugin to this software, which also removes the copy control on HD DVD and Blu ray

Slysoft has other excellent software, so while you are there - check these out also

Squash and Solaris;

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have all of the programs mentioned in both posts: GOM, VLC and AnyDvd, but the problem is that I can't remember what I used to burn the DVD.
The Simpsons movie was viewable on the computer and we (my wife and I) ended up watching it on the big screen TV by hooking the TV up with the laptop. Pretty crappy picture and sound, but it did work! It is not a media friendly laptop! I used GOM for that by the way.
My problem is that I am not DVD savvy. The only reason that I even know about the programs listed above it that they were already on the computer (not this one) when I bought it. My boss unloaded it on me and he is really into the DVD/Movie deal. I only got it because it is really kinda neat but I wanted it for audio file playback through my stereo set up. I may have used whatever program incorrectly, so it may have been my fault. I did fire off a message to ZML customer service, but did not receive a reply, so I forgot about it.

Thanks - Mark

Hi Mark.

Make sure that the chosen default region is 1 (if you're in North America). You change/correct this in AnyDVD settings

I haven't got the slightest idea what you imply here, Mark

sorry, slightly off-topic, but i noticed ZML being discussed above. i might be to stupid for it: signed up for it,
paid, but now, trying to use it, i cannot anywhere find a sign-in button on their homepage!

and very often, just trying to get to their homepage, i get a server error 500. is this normal, a sign of overload?

anybody by any chance knows a good forum where ZML migh be discussed?

greets - henry -
