Question Losing Metadata - 10-27-2007, 11:44 AM

Just downloeaded my first 2 albums from MP3 Sparks (used to be on AllofMP3) in FLAC lossless. All went OK but the metadata is "pants". A lot is just missing (like Artist, Album etc), punctuation marks and spaces are all replaced by underscores and capitalisation is absent.
So I've sent many minutes having to edit the metadata for these tracks. It wasn't this bad on Allof MP3 - am I missing something ?
Cheers

Hi liffy, I'm not an expert on downloading FLAC lossless files and an expert should be along soon. If you're using a Mac then the next set of words are useless, but, in the meantime, if you're using a PC have you tried using AllTunes to download your files? The tagging is excellent.

How would I use Alltunes ? Doesn't MP3 Sparks just transfer you from "Basket" to its own download section. Is there a choice to use an alternative and where would I set that up ?
Thanks

Iffy, Just go to Alltunes.com and download and install the software. You will be asked to log into Alltunes using your Sparks Logon.

Go to Sparks, buy an album and then go to Alltunes and click on the 'download' section. Right click the tracks and select 'download now'.

Very soon you will have nicely tagged tracks in a ready made folder.

Or you could just use AllTunes and forget about Sparks altogether.

The only reason to use the web-based downloading is for those songs AllTunes can't encode for you--because the file names are too long. But that is rare, and affects just a few of the various artists compilations.

Unless I've missed something really cool about MP3Sparks & AllOfMP3, of course.

There could be a payment issue too - namely if you are only able to add to your balance via MP3Sparks
