Unhappy vista? - 10-12-2007, 06:16 PM

Does Alltunes work on Windows Vista??

I have no problems using it on my XP laptop, but when I downloaded the software on my Vista desktop, it was successful but then would not open because "could not access language folder".

What is the problem with this. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling a couple of times with the same problem each time.

Hi Arrowspace90 ,
I'm not one of the tech-savvy forum members Solairs is referring to, but I helped set my brothers computer up a couple of weeks ago and that had Windows Vista & alltunes worked fine. Not sure how else I can help you but I hope someone else can come up with some suggestions,
Cheers,
Dave C

Odd. Alltunes works fine for me so I'm not entirely sure what the problem could be. But make sure your account is an admin account and that Internet Explorer is fully updated.

It works for me also with Vista (I only wish longer samples are available). Perhaps it is the edition?

sorry i can not help you out with this. i have used vista a few times and im not really that impressed. im sure it is a good os but it seems a lot different that im used to. i still run windows 2000 pro. this os is the best it never crashes and i can still program in the dos prompt with no issues. i have played around with xp that seems to be ok and stable but like i said not much attention to vista. vista seems to hog up a bunch of memory for no particular reason. i guess someday will have to upgrade but right now im still running my dinosor with 2000 pro. sorry to ramble on and give no help. if nothing else i would down grade to xp if you have lots of issues. i have had to do that with clients that have had network issues with vista.

thanks,

Shadman

Hi arrowspace90

If your error message was 'could not find language file', allTunes is failing to find the file allTunes.lng which should be in C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\allTunes\allTunes\ . You could check that it's present, and that you have permissions to access it. There are a couple of log files, INSTALL.LOG in the allTunes program folder, and allTunes.log which should be somewhere in your user profile. You can open these with Notepad. They may shed some light.

I too have no truck with Vista so my apologies if I've got any of the file locations wrong.

Yes, this is exactly the problem and I am so far unable to solve it. I have downloaded/reinstalled the software several times yesterday and today with the same result: "could not find language file". I tried opening the program by "run as administrator". Still no luck. What in the heck could be causing this glitch? Perhaps I will try it again with the anti virus software turned off. I am not a programming expert and don't know much else to try unless someone is familar with this specific problem. The program will not open if I access it under "program files"....same result.

However, everyone's comments are certainly appreciated.

Well, turning off my anti-virus protection did not solve the problem.

Of course I can't help but wonder if there is not a bug in the actual software. Has anyone downloaded it to a vista computer in the last couple of days?

Perhaps I can google the error and see if anyone else has reported it.

Hi arrowspace90.

Which version of allTunes do you use?
