I assume what you've stumbled across is a record label's own catalogue/index number for that CD. If you look at any CD, they all have some sort of code on there.

No, I don't think it's for individual CDs--there is a unique code with each individual track on every CD. The codes identify specific recordings of songs, not just a CD.

These codes are also listed on the website everyone is talking about.

That's how I found the website - by Googling the code you had in your original post.

Perhaps it's some "Public Domain ID". I'm honestly out of ideas.

I'm really looking forward to downloading a lot of those jazz tracks. It's a great find! Mp3 bitrates are good too!
