Question iphone anyone?? - 11-07-2007, 08:51 PM

Don't worry, this isn't a spam post , I was just wondering if anyone has got one of these as they are about to come to the UK and I am sorely tempted . On paper they look excellent, but I would like to hear from someone who has actually used one to see if they live up to the hype.
Cheers,
Dave C
NB. They are out on Friday, so post quickly please

My niece got one, when the price went down. I haven't talked to her, but my sister says, she still uses her ipod alot, and her other phone, which is on a different service. Not sure what this means, lol. But , U know teens are the best spokesperson, and she obviously is not diggin it, as she expected to.

Piece of crap, looks awesome and that's all... Technical part offers absolutely nothing, you get more from really cheap phones...

I got Nokia N95 6 months ago as temporary phone until I get my hands on iPhone... I got iPhone, had it for a week and than sold it. I still prefer Nokia...

That's my story

I have just spent 2 hours surfing the net for reviews and it seems that other people share your opinion. I might hold off on this purchase for a while longer ,

Dave C. They did a review on the Gadget show on Channel 5 (UK) the other week I think with the N95. Although the IPhone did have some useful points it has a crap camera (2 Megapixels) and cannot take video. It doesn't have GPS and it is almost impossible to type in web pages on the touch screen.

The N95 comes out as their Best Buy.

Overall in the program they were disappointed with what the Iphone had to offer, exept the great battery life (which you can't change so hope it doesn't go dud).

Depends if you want to be an early adopter over here or just have money to splash out

I have decided to sit on this one for a while and try one out in a shop once the initial fuss dies down. Also, some one told me that if you buy one in France it will not be locked into a single network (O2 seems to have the iphone tied down at the moment in the UK),
Cheers,
Dave C

Hi Dave,

You are correct about France it is illegal over there to have a network tie-in. (Well the French were bound to get SOMETHING right eventually ). As with the USA and AT&T I'm sure the costs will be horrendous with O2

A point to watch is if you go roaming, as the iPhone tends to download everything and I have heard of US visitors to Europe running up some pretty startling bills they were unaware they would be getting.

Not to trash it totally it does look fantastic and has some really clever technology but then so does a Wii

Dave,

You're smart to wait..after a year they will be more affordable and you
will have competition to choose from, that will give you the same
product but cheaper, and you will have better and cheaper network options.

Cheers,

Nightfly
