Just wondering how mobile/cell phone plans work in other countries. In Canada, the person with the phone pays for any calls they receive. Here in Australia, even though people pay for a plan, I have to pay over 30 cents a minute to call someone.
This just seems a bit backwards to me. Is it common to be paying to call someone just because they choose to operate a mobile phone? I think it sucks.

Should I pick up the cost of their landline also just so I can contact them?
