Gotan Project - 09-13-2007, 04:51 AM

I know I may have just re-invented sliced bread - but while listening to some random tunes on Last FM, I discovered Gotan Project . Their music is Tango, taken into the 21st century via electronica and sampling, and I think works absolutely brilliantly! Piazzola for the new millemium. I downloaded "La Revancha Del Tango" and I love it so far.

I swear I heard "Santa Maria (del Buen Ayre)" somewhere, featured prominently. Some TV program or film. Just can't peg it down. Great track though! If I weren't feeling so lazy right now, I'd do a search in Google.

Hi Vik,
just typed Gotan Project into the search engine of the MM and it has "Santa Maria (del Buen Ayre)" down on the sound track to the film "Shall we Dance". This is the Richard Gere remake of the Japanese film of the same name. I have never seen the Richard Gere film, but saw the original at a friends house a couple of years ago and remember it being very good. After listening to the track, I am not sure it is my taste in music; got to accept that I've just got no rhythm,
Cheers,
Dave C

Oh of course ! The one with Jennifer Lopez. I knew I've heard this somewhere. Now I remember the dance.

Thanks,
It came up randomly while I was listening to the "My Neighborhood" station. Guess Last FM is good that way.

BTW, "Gotan" is "tango" with syllables reversed Just in case you are dense like me, who only noticed it it after reading on Wikipedia
