My eldest daughter recently completed a clinical rotation at a remote aboriginal community in Oz's Northern Territory. Not only did she bring me back a couple of superb pieces of aboriginal art, she also recommended I check out a young blind aboriginal folk singer named Geoffery Gurrumul Yunupingu. I had forgotten about this until a few days ago when I heard one the tracks from his debut album "Gurrumul" played on, of all places, the National Classical Music radio station.
His songs are sung in both English and his own tribal dialect and are quite beautiful. However, it is his wonderful and distinctive voice that causes him to stand out from the burgeoning crowd of young singer-songwriters going around at present.
I haven't been able to find this album in any of the online stores except the dreaded iTunes but his web site sells the CD with no charge for delivery anywhere in the world.
If you are interested a few of his songs are on uTube. The two I liked were "I Was Born Blind" and "Djarimirri".

However, the sound quality of the sample track on his web site is far superior
