Thumbs up Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim - 02-10-2008, 09:51 PM

I've been away for a bit so I am not sure if Laura Marling has already been mentioned in another thread somewhere else and I've missed it. If she has, then she is certainly good enough for another mention. For me, this lady certainly outstrips Duffy and Adele for the quality of her voice and songs. Not sure why I even mentioned the other two (hype I guess) but Laura Marling rates up there with Regina Spektor with the release (tomorrow) of her début album 'Alas I Cannot Swim'. Fantastic alt-folk album which is going to be played to death by me for the next few weeks. Favourite track so far is (3) Tap At My Window, but I'm sure this will change with more plays. Of the sites I visit, only mp3sale.ru has the album at the moment, but I'm sure others will pick it up on it's release tomorrow. A must buy,
Cheers,
Dave C

I am checking this out as I type but have to say I am disappointed there are only 30 second samples on this album. I thought MP3sale were doing full length samples on all new releases. These are even more important for new and emerging artists because they have no 'track record'. I will DL this because of your recommend (she's not related) and because I like alt folk and female singer-songwriters.

Hey Dave, developing quite a track record of recommends there. Two people downloading without hearing a note

She also lives just down the road from me (Eversley), so you've got to support the local girls (who knows I might bump into her in the pub ),
Cheers,

Doesn't go in The Cross does she? Maybe she prefers the Chequers - surely not one of the posh birds in The White Hart

Actually, she's only just 18 so she probably doesn't go to pubs yet

No worries - Anyway, your's would be a mere trifle compared to the daily activity of my two daughters in that regard
