You don't know anyone named 'Zorba', by any chance?

Nope! And I'll make sure to stay clear from anyone by that name from now on

Actually, there is a recording of Maria singing the aria Cast Diva on Sparks/MM which is surprisingly good given the reservations I expressed about the suitability of her voice for the role in another post. However, the definitive version, imho, is that by Joan Sutherland with Callas a close second (also both on Sparks).

P.S. You wouldn't want the labrador or, especially, the cat to hear you referring to them as 'pets'

Edit: Actually, the version I had in mind was by Angela Georghui, rather than Maria Guleghina - I don't have a recording of her singing this aria (but I do have, in addition to Georghui, Sutherland and Callas, versions by Fleming, Caballe, Bartoli, Netrebko and Joshua Bell - on violin, of course )
Was just trying to see if there is a review in NY Times of last week's Norma. All I found is this :-

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/01/ar...ic/01norm.html

Talk about drama!

The now traditional Summer Holiday abroad. If I remember right Nana and her glasses were assaulting our ears in the mid Seventies when a holiday abroad, especially to the exotic Greece, was still a bit of a rarity. Or maybe Greece was just starting to open up to the holidaying hordes.

Either way I think, maybe, those with some cash to splash wanted to get one over on the others who had been holidaying in the Spanish Costas so they bought an LP or two of Greek exotica back with them.

On the other hand I suppose Nana could have been a promotional stunt by the Greek Tourist Authority to try to convey that Greece was a sophisticated place to go for your holls. Blimey that could have misfired on them

Then there was the voluminous kaftan wearing Demis Roussos but you'd better ask Solaris about him as I'm sure he's got the full album collection

Downloading these 30 albums as we speak: Demis Roussos: MP3 Download

But seriously I only knew his name before you mentioned him and I only have "Only Love" by Nana Mouskouri (and that was strictly because it got to number 2 in the UK chart in 1986)

I'll check my music library once I get home from work. Odds are - I probably have 30 Demis Roussos albums already.

Told ya he was popular in Russia! Vague subconscious memory of hearing that name as a kid.
