Couple of questions, One suggestion! - 11-07-2007, 11:49 AM

Hi Guys,
Great forum. I joined when I was first sceptical about these sites, got reassured on the forum, and then got totally addicted... downloading hundreds of albums fearing that the bubble would burst!
So... I have now built up a bit of a list again of stuff to download. I found that when I was at the height of my addiction , mp3stor had the best choice of music. I tried to log on several times lately and realised it must be on it's way out. The other site I used a lot was legalsounds.
Couple of questions:
1) Which site would you recommend as far as availability of music? I am mainly into indie/punk/rock.
2) How good are sites at finding music that you request? I did not have any luck with the two I mentioned.
3) What is the best payment method to use now? Sounds like there have been Visa/MC issues lately. I had no problems earlier in the year. If anyone suggests a site, can they please suggest which card is best suited?
As for a suggestion, I find the best way to deal with the sites is to have a list of what you want (I have a major OCD problem!) and calculate how much you need to put on the account, then go on and download from your list up to that limit. This at least solves the problem of balances being left on accounts like Mp3stor.
Thanks very much,
Pete

First off, my default site is still mp3sparks, mainly due to the choice of format / bit rate. If they do not sock it these are what I tend to look at next:-
For indie, my favourite site has been musicmp3.ru, followed by mp3sale.ru & gomusic.ru. If you do not have to worry about cost, e-music is excellent, especially for the more obscure bands.
Punk; no idea
Rock, the ones I listed for indie are all okay, but millisong.com excellent, especially for prog. rock stuff.

Not sure about this as I usually just try different sites until I find one which has what I am after. A lot of people talk about soundsbox.com being very good at this though.

Each site is different and you probably need to go to the relevant threads for more info,
Cheers,

Hi darksideofthemoon and welcome to the forum

I would not be telling the truth, if I said that I totally understand your above question

Could you try to make it a little clearer, what you are talking about? Which site for instance?

How many sites are there here?

I did notice that you post your date back-to-front to the way we do in Australia, hence the reason I thought no-one's been here since the 11th August............that's ok, I'm allowed to get confused, after all we're all standing upside-down down under:

Hi darksideofthemoon.

For some reason you must have found yourself linked to a (to put it mildly) not so busy thread

This is in fact a very busy forum, where you'll find lots of useful information.

I recommend:

http://www.aom3.org/forum/music-shop...html#post22743

and

http://www.aom3.org/forum/allofmp3-m...html#post21861

and I guess you have been to our main site:

http://www.aom3.org/forum/

All the recent posts you'll find, if you left click 'Quick Links' (next to 'Log Out' in the bar in the upper right corner of your browser) and choose 'Today's Posts'.

Alternatively you just left click 'New Posts' also situated in the bar (#4 from the right).

Some even walk on all fours Oh, wait, that' squash's pets!

P.S. Squash, I went to see Norma last night and was let down. Norma wasn't Norma.... Rather, title characher wasn't Maria Guleghina, who was out ill. It was another singer (Mariana Mescheriakova) who neither of us liked. Her voice was very strained (although perhaps she got more warned up in the second half). Apparently, neither did the rest of the audience judging by applause. Star of the cast was Dolora Zajick.
