Do you use e-gold as a payment?
For a example, you can fulfill e-gold by credit card through alertpay.com.

Hi financict & Welcome to the Forum ,
I am not sure what the e-gold payment is (I do not see this when I sign in). The options I get are: -
Credit / debit card (none have been accepted for several months now)
CMPASS pin code (as far as I know, not worked for a while now)
AllPay Cards (as far as I know, not worked for a while now).

What is e-gold & have you used it to refill your mp3sparks balance recently (last three months),
Cheers,
Dave C

Okay, just did a quick Google on e-gold & alertpay and it looks like it is a scam. I guess we will not see financict again, so please ignore this thread,
Cheers,
Dave C

NB. Please correct me if I am wrong here

Hi Dave C

I must say both AlertPay and E-gold look legit to me:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-gold

I think all online payment services are sometimes used by scammers and other crims, but the services themselves seem OK. It may be worth noting, though, that according to the wikipedia article, E-gold payments are not reversible, even in the event of error or fraud. And as with other services - notably PayPal - there are people who are unhappy with the service they've received.

Since this thread has accidentally come back into the limelight, here is an update on E-gold:

Quote:
In July 2008 the company and its three directors pled guilty to charges of "conspiracy to engage in money laundering" and the "operation of an unlicensed money transmitting business" in the U.S. District Court for D.C. The company faces fines of $3.7 million, Douglas Jackson faces a prison sentence of up to 25 years on both charges, and Barry Downey and Reid Jackson face maximum prison sentences of up to 5 years. Sentencing for all defendants has been set for Nov. 20, 2008.

wikipedia
However, they still seem to be operational, and there is no suggestion that they have been scamming their punters.

not scamming, but they do seem to be bankrupt, according to some recent official statements

i, for one, would not use them for e-money transfers. and for other specific reasons too.

regards,
Max

MP3skyline archmage. Over 3 100 000 tunes - ain't it magic?
one, two - buckle my shoe, three, four - shut the door, five, six - pick up sticks, seven, eight - lay em straight
