I think that there is one basic problem with audio books and that is all but the shortest tend to run to 6 plus CDs (24 in the case of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

). This makes downloading them (even at a low bit rate) very expensive. This is not the answer you are after, but for me the best way of getting audio books is to buy them (I usually get them from Amazon), burn them to you mp3 player and then sell the original CDs on ebay. I have done this many times (including the Harry potter books) and although they cost a bit to start with, you can usually get 90% of the cost back on the auction price & postage. For three of the HP books, I even made a profit

. Ofcourse, you could just buy the audio book from ebay, and it might even be me selling it
