Download problem - 04-04-2008, 06:28 PM

Hi Seva

Firstly, I want to thank you for a great site and for the assistance I've received from Soundsbox to date.

I have corresponded with Soundsbox the last day or so about a problem and want to bring it up here in the forum - maybe some members can shine more light on the issue.

I've downloaded a number of albums the last two weeks, with no problems - and now it is not working anymore. I receive the following error -

Fri Apr 04 16:00:08 GMT+02:00 2008
Trying login with: Email - REMOVED@telkomsa.net Order Number - 52565
Login successful.
User selected folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Shaun\My Documents
ERROR: Song download failed. Security check 2 failed.User closed program.

As you can see I get the request to choose the location for saving - but it doesn't download. I then get the above error. In the folder all the songs will be listed and size shown as 1kb.

This differs from a problem I had initially with IP addresses - the ISP I now use gives me a fixed IP address, and as I say I've been downloading from Soundsbox the last two week without probs.

Soundsbox insists it is my ISP or firewall, but I can't understand how that is possible. There's been no changes to either one, why now all of a sudden?

I would greatly appreciate any explanation or suggestions!

Thanks

Security check 2 failed - this means only one thing and this is that last account login IP and downloader IP address dont match. Why they dont match I dont know...in 90% is ISP...

Hi siris and welcome to the forum

Have you tried this?: http://www.aom3.org/forum/22877-post1.html (post 1, 2 and 3)

That will eliminate your ISP for sure

Hi Siris, I have had rare problems with Soundsbox normally after I've been searching the site for a long time. Have you tried logging out of Soundsbox and logging back in again? Worked for me, but then again that may be the first thing you thought to try

Hi siris

Maybe this could be caused by a load-balancing proxy at your ISP, masking your real IP address and making your apparent address change during a session. This would most likely be transparent to you, but on the off-chance that it's not, you could check your Internet Options>Connections settings to make sure they're not configured to use an external proxy. If this is the cause, Hirs Ute's suggestion might well help.

As a general rule, you should avoid posting email addresses, as bots crawl around the web harvesting them for spam lists

Thanks for the welcome! I've tried your suggestion, but the properties keep reverting back to "automatically detect DNS". BTW I use a 3G mobile network connection.

Hirs Ute, thanks - I've tried logging in and out a number of times - to no avail.

What I still completely fail to understand (I'm pretty much a noob), is how it was possible to previously download albums?

The first time (about two weeks ago) when I tried Soundsbox, I could'nt get further than the log in on the Java console - with a IP address error. After advice from Soundsbox I found out that the ADSL connection I was using doesn't have a static IP address. Since then I've used my home connection, which apparently has a static address, and I've downloaded a number of albums since then.

Thanks again for all the advice so far, it is really appreciated.

The email address is now pretty worthless for a spam bot
