Thumbs up I'm getting more and more impressed - 07-21-2007, 08:38 PM

I must admit that I am getting more and more impressed with seva's young site.

I'm also much more used to their Java based downloader, which is quick and efficient (800 kbit/sec.) and I (for one) haven't had any experience with badly encoded tracks and/or tracks that just didn't sound so good.

Their tagging are also a little different (which is good) with the track number squeezed in between the artist and the track title.

They are advancing in the Russian/Ukrainian online music store hierarchy in my book

Regards, viracocha

New Site Rising - 07-21-2007, 09:07 PM

Seva,
Oh yes, I agree totally. In just a short time the site has come a
long way. Just a little disappointed the bit rate of the Jazz CD's is not at
least 256 or higher...... Oh well..... Still coming along nicely. And as to the
Java down loader, yes a bit of getting use to, but very fast.......

Yes.. I have been a Fan for awhile..seeing thier potential by their developing
catalog and in their efforts to please their customers..and I for one have grown to love their downloader as well...at first a little quirky, but once you start using it,it's fast and very effecient...and all of my downloads have been
pleasing to me at least the same quality as a site I frequent Emusic...who
in the US is known for their quality...lately they have uploaded some World
and African Highlife titles that are very rare and exciting to me..even
Emusic the best site for African music would never have these title..as well
as some great Latin and most of all ,wonderful esoteric Jazz pieces that
have not appeared on any other download sites Russian or other...
I see a great future for them as the money comes in and they are able to
do more and more upgrades..yes there are some bugs..But one thing
I know they care about taking care of them, and does not distract
from the quality of music offered. As a music lover I was drawn to Allofmp3
because of thier Diverse catalog,no DRM as well as the other Goodies I later found..
But initially it was the music..and that's what draws me to Soundsbox..
Seva...keep up the good work...music lovers are noticing...keep those
titles coming..

Once again viracocha thanks for your insight and you seem to be on the money quite often

Take Care,

Nightfly

Impressed but still lots of big talk - 08-05-2007, 07:58 PM

I have been a soundsbox user for about four weeks now. I was impressed with seva's somewhat immediate responses and willingness to help.
I like the download interface and i have been lurking in the background on this site, watching all the discussion about bit rates, etc.

My general impression is the site has so much potential but Seva is more a salesmen/big talker than anything. He repeatedly says thousands of albums will be added "this week" but those posts are all weeks and weeks old. Lots of grand statements have been made but the progress is slow and steady. Maybe "thousands" means something different to him than it does to me?

I have no doubts that soundsbox has potential to be a major player but the constant promises of having albums i've requested and increasing the bit rates and the ultra-super fast growth are more talk than results.

My point is that i would be more inclined to refill my balance when it runs dry this time if the promises had been smaller and met instead of grand and unmet.

Secondmailbox,

You Bring up some good points..

Seva has said that the Soundsbox team is on vacation and that's why there is a decline on new releases..I am sure that they will come through with
a 1000 new releases on their return...their quality has increased
on new releases... maybe not enough for your personal satisfaction which only you can determine..
and requests, I had to wait a while for them, but it was always cool stuff that
I've never seen(Jazz and African titles)...
But I do see your point..I think when you have a passion for something
like they do you might get...over zealous...but I like to see that kind of passion about music... I say give them a chance for growth and wait to
see if Seva fulfills the sites promises.. I would think that there is a good chance they will be...this is just my opinion as a fellow user...
I just happen to be patient, its part of my nature,But I understand not everybody is... and yes I agree promises should be kept, but people
should be given time to fulfill their promises.
Lets see what Seva has to say..

2.5 more days and we start uploading new stuff...batteries are almost full

I'm sorry that all came out this way but we had to take a brake for those 10 days...I had few people beside my usual stuff working on new releases so they are reay to upload, just waiting main uploader to get back home...

i finally gave up. I had a lot of hope for soundsbox but the empty promises finally wore me out.
I would ask for albums, they would say "yes yes yes" and then weeks later, nothing.
I got weary of the endless "tomorrow we come back from vacation" or "you just don't understand what we go thru over here."
Yes, i don't understand. but i do understand broken promises and money talks.
So i switched to another company.

thats my two cents: great site, music selection is more generalized, and customer service is a crock.

You can't be serious - you must have been extremely unlucky

I think Assistance have found around 80% of what I've requested so far, which I think is pretty darn good

SoundsBox has taken over the number one spot from MP3Sparks in my book within the last month or so (never thought I would say that - ever...)

MM have found nothing of what I've requested. And I thought that was one of the reasons to be in MM over Sparks - personal attention.

After all the recommendations from Solaris, I hope soundsbox delivers!!
