New Indie Rock - 08-01-2007, 01:56 PM

I just joined the site yesterday, after being a loyal Allofmp3 customer for a while. I have to tell you, the thing that got me to convert was that I spotted a couple of albums (mostly Indie rock) that are hard to come by on other music web sites (namely Minus the Bear, Portugal. the Band, Architecture in Helinski). All three albums haven't even been released yet, and received bery good reviews recently, so I was eccstatic when I saw that they were available.

I just wanted to give you props for having some cutting edge music and urge you to keep it coming. You folks could be what eMusic.com tries to be.

Is Sondsbox open to suggestions for upcoming releases?

hi,

Just submit request message on the site, list all albums or artists you want to see on the site and we'll do our best to get them. We get best results with not yet released albums and new releases, very old stuff is always harder to get.

Hey Chooch..I am a Emusic user and have been a fan of Soundsbox
because of the Indie Jazz Blues and World stuff that Emusic didn't have..
I am looking forward to next week when they start normal uploading again,
and many new tittles are promised...to be honest dare I say, I have not
personally been thrilled with Mp3sparks new arrivals of late...I hope
this changes as well...I think Seva has liked the vibe they picked up on the catalog, so I believe ...they will keep it coming.

Take care,

Nightfly

Just wanted to jump in here and add my two cents. Soundsbox and Seva have been very receptive to not only requests to add new stuff but also to re-upload albums that, in my opinion, are in the catalog at a less then acceptable bit rate at a higher rate. For example: Genesis "Foxtrot" was at 128 and after a request it is now at 320. Where else can you get this kind of service?
I am definitely a Soundsbox fan and love the service.

Mark

I noticed on the Soundsbox site that there is an option to receive emails about "updates, soundsbox news, etc". I have yet to receive one yet though. Do you in fact send out emails that list all of the recently added albums?

Additionally, I would like to recommend that you show the year of release when you list your recenlty added albums. I find this helpful when sifting through all of the "new adds", looking specifically for "new releases".

we still didn't decide to "bother" customers with every day e-mail...we will do only promotions e-mails through newsletter...

Adding year to new release list is a good idea, thanks for telling this...we missed it somehow. It will be added this week.
