Problem with Downloader - 01-25-2008, 05:13 PM

I have downlownload the latest version (v2.1.4) and extracted the contents using Winrar. According to the readme have to "Right click on the SoundsBox.vx.x.x.jar file", however there is no .jar file and yes I have the latest version of Java installed

Help please,

Nam

Hi Namroc.

I also used WinRAR to extract the archive - and I got the .jar file (see attachment)

Thanks Solaris your post gave me and idea. I checked my Winrar settings I found that I had Winrar to associate with jar files, meaning that it would extract the contents of the jar file. I unchecked the box in Winrar and I can now use the downloader.

Doh!

Hi klimpoh and welcome to the forum

Don't worry about your spelling and grammar - we understand your question perfectly well.

But to solve this you need the assistance of one of this forum's more tech savvy guys - like gm, rolly or Cornutopian. So stay tuned for those guys

Hi klimpoh

I am not a customer of Soundsbox, so I know nothing about their Flash downloader. Maybe you should contact Soundsbox direct about this problem?

I had the same thing happen once.
I'm not sure as to the cause myself, but I did finally get all the tracks.

I think it had something to do with the downloader not connecting to,or finding the server,as the downloaders error messages seemed to imply.
It appears that the downloader connects to more than just one server, and some servers either didn't have the download available yet,or just couldn't be reached for some reason.
The fault of a particular server or the downloader myself I am not certain of.

After repeatly downloading the same tracks over and over again, with the missing tracks still not showing up,I waited several hours later and tried again.
Then they all were downloaded,so I never figured out how to fix something that was no longer broke.
And as I mentioned,it only happened once.

That is only my speculation though, and it would be best as GM said to contact Soundsbox directly.
You'll get a more definite answer that way.

the downloader should only redownload songs that are incomplete. the progress bar should just jump straight to 100% if the song is already there. on the times when the song is redownloaded it is because there is a discrepancy between the actual file size and the expected size
