Internet Radio takes a hit.. - 08-26-2007, 06:42 AM

The U.S. Copyright Royalty Board has put smaller Web radio
programmers out of business and only the larger Broadcasters
can meet the demands of raised royalties and higher restrictions.
They are also battling over infecting streaming audio with DRM
so we can not record it. Here's the article:

Webcasters, Music Industry Reach Accord On Royalties

I had noticed Pandora had stopped streaming to non-US IP addresses.

As far as preventing recording, AFAIK something like Totalrecorder cannot be fooled that easily.

Koenfucious,

I am sorry to hear about Pandora..

I have a question: I use 3D Mp3 Sound Recorder to record all streaming
audio or sound from DVD into mp3..great Interface and features..But I have not been unable to record drm infected audio coming across my pc..I get distorted broken data..
Will Totalrecorder record drm infected files ?

Thanks,

Nightfly

Thanks,
I'm confident this could solve your problem, but whether other programmes offer a more convenient solution, I don't know.

I'm a musician, I record my own music on my computer.

A programme called "Mixcraft", will allow you to record ANY sound that would normally come out of your stereo headphones socket/speakers. I.E. it will record the computers noise/sounds. e.g. you play something in Windows Media Player, it'll record it. Therefore, an internet radio station, easy...

Note, this does mean if you click on websites, it will record that sound also, and any others your computer might be inclined to make.

pm me and I can tell you where to get a copy

I think it could be useful for you. It is a multitracker, (which means I could record myself playing guitar, then listen to myself while recording drums, etc etc, building sound...)

In your case, you could record a piece of music on one track, simply record another on another track. You'd have to play around with it, but I'm pretty sure you'll find it easy...

Thanks Chris.Music1,

My program (3D mp3 sound recorder)does the same thing records anything your PC audio output creates, and I use Audacity for editing..
I am a musician myself but I am a dinosaur and haven't made a recording since 32 Multi Track Analog..lol..and your software is more than I need
for my personal music purposes..but maybe would like to play with it in the
future.
The problem is if it contains drm I can play it back on my PC ok..but
can not play the converted mp3 elsewhere..I guess I need software that
eliminates the drm virus...

Thanks again,

Nightfly

Thanks,

Totalrecorder replaces steps in place of your sound card, and records the output as going to your speakers. So yes, it should be able to record DRM infected files.

I maybe repeating Koenficus' statement here in a different way, but I am pretty confident that Mixcraft, if not Koenficus' (??) record an analog signal. Therefore, no amount of DRM can stop it. It's like recording onto tape to tape ( for old foggies ) via the analog output sockets.

With Mixcraft, you can take your analog, back into digital recording, and "mix down" into most popular formats mp3, wav, wma etc, edit all it's names (artist, album blah blah).

You say "3D mp3 sound recorder does the same thing records anything your PC audio output creates". I question how, because if it works like mixcraft there should be no problems (?) - either way I sincerely hope you find something that helps enormously and enable you to record the entire contents of the radio station!

Take care,
Chris
