Kazaa founder joins enemy - 10-28-2008, 11:46 PM

From the Sydney Morning Herald

Quote:
TWO former adversaries who squared off in a bitter legal battle over Kazaa have joined forces to invent technology they say will kill the illegal sharing of pirated content and child porn over peer-to-peer networks.

Kevin Bermeister, sued for millions by the music industry between 2004 and 2006 over his association with what was once the world's most popular file-sharing service, and Michael Speck, who ran the music industry's case as the head of its anti-piracy arm, Music Industry Piracy Investigations, are now partners in a company, Brilliant Digital Entertainment.

Hello Maximus,

I guess, that Kevin Bermeister just got ‘assimilated’, by the Matrix of the BORG Digital Entertainment. Poor Kevin, when given the choices of paying retributions, fines, and going to jail, or just “doing the right thing”, just couldn’t resist.

I really like the IMPRINT sound of "instantaneous conversion of infringing activity into legitimate content transactions". That "When the architecture of the internet that has our technology recognises one of those proven illicit files, it blocks it, disconnects the link to it and adds to the search results the opportunity to purchase the legitimate material", therefore, putting blinders, or force-feeding the “blue” pill on the customer.
Then, the plan is: “The legal version is delivered by the ISP, which receives a cut of the revenue, and the charge is added to the customer's monthly internet bill”. Now they just have to ‘assimilate’ the ISPs by convincing them of acting as a collections agency on their behalf. Like the “bundling” acts for the telecoms in the 90’s when it came to long distance, and the “other” services like the “psychic”, the “hook-up”, the “call-me-if you-are-lonely” lines, etc. And, the legal disputes, that warranted additional legislation.

Thanks for tuning in, and, remember to take the “red” pill.

GHERDEZ
